After Doogee had just launched the Doogee V20 with AMOLED and dual display, the Doogee S98 is now a continuation of the S series. The smartphone was recently announced and the first details on the technical data are already available. The Doogee S98 should also be equipped with a dual display. According to the datasheet, the cameras are identical to the Doogee V20. So there is a 64MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 20MP night vision camera. Basically, the S98 is based on the Doogee V20 but still differs in a few places.
The Doogee S98 will of course also be an outdoor smartphone but uses a much more eye-catching design, which is less elegant, but on the other hand, is a real eye-catcher. The second display on the back is also housed in the camera module of the S98, but here it comes in a round design. The whole thing looks quite interesting and, due to the different watch faces, almost looks as if a smartwatch had been installed here.
Like the V20, the Doogee S98 is said to be IP68, IP69K, and MIL-STD-810G certified. However, you have to do without the AMOLED display. Doogee uses a classic LCD panel again, which apparently doesn’t even offer a higher refresh rate than usual. That’s a bit disappointing because an outdoor smartphone with a 90Hz display would be a welcome change. At least there is hope that the LCD panel will push the price down a bit and the Doogee S98 will then be cheaper than the V20.

The processor should also speak for this because instead of the Dimensity 700 from the V20; there is a Mediatek Helio G96 in the Doogee S98. 5G support will also be removed. But you get a little more power; because the GPU of the Helio G96, in particular, is a bit faster than that of the Dimensity 700. The S98 promises more power for those users who have slightly higher demands when playing.
Apart from that, it is interesting to mention that; Doogee apparently wants to react to the new requirements within the EU, which prescribes an appropriate software support period for electronic devices. The Doogee S98 should be supplied with Android updates and security patches for three years. This is atypical for the small manufacturers from the Far East in particular and makes you sit up and take notice. It will therefore be interesting to see whether Doogee can actually keep this promise.
