Some users may find that when charging an iPhone, the charging speed starts to slow down after the phone has reached 80% or more of power for a period of time.
This is usually due to iOS automatically enabling the “Optimize battery charging” feature. The purpose of this feature is to reduce battery drain and extend battery life by reducing the time the iPhone is fully charged.
With this feature enabled, the iPhone will delay charging by more than 80% in some cases. The iPhone uses machine learning on the device to learn your daily charging habits and only enables “Optimize Battery Charge” when the iPhone determines that it will be connected to the charger for a long time. This algorithm is designed to ensure that your iPhone remains fully charged when you unplug the charging cable.
Users can manage this feature in iPhone Settings – Battery – Battery Health – Optimize Battery Charging.
When “Optimize Battery charging” is enabled, a notification will appear on the lock screen indicating when the iPhone will be fully charged. If you need to get your iPhone fully charged as soon as possible, just hold the notification and tap “Charge Now.”
If your iPhone doesn’t fully charge after waiting a long time:
1. Check whether the iPhone is overheating. The iPhone may heat up a bit while charging. To extend the battery’s life, the software may limit charging when the battery exceeds 80 percent if it becomes overheated. When the temperature drops, the iPhone charges again. Try moving your iPhone and charger to a cooler location.
In addition, if the temperature is low, the iPhone or iPad may not be able to charge, and you need to place the device in a slightly warmer place before trying to charge it.
2. Replace the charging cable or socket, and restart the device before continuing to charge.
3. If the iPhone fails to charge or charges slowly after upgrading, upgrading, or jailbreaking, it is likely that the iOS system is faulty.
