6 Things to Look at When Buying a Second-Hand/Used iPhone

As far as used electronics is concerned, choosing the best isn’t as simple as reading descriptions. Usually, electronics are costly and need different checklists before you buy. That checklist doubles when purchasing used and second-hand iPhones.

Purchasing a used or second-handiPhone is similar to playing the game of roulette. But it doesn’t need to be this way. There are several things you will need to consider when buying used and second-hand iPhones. Some of these things may include the following:

    1. Visible Damages

Some used and second-hand iPhones have scratches and scuffs even when they were maintained well in a case. If an iPhone is given to you in a phone case, remove it to look at it.

Take your time to inspect the phone for all the signs of visible damage, including small cracks and scratches around the corners. Dents in a chassis are more of a concern as they show signs of damage in internal components, such as batteries.

Check also whether the phone sits flat on the surface facing down as it may show there is a force that has caused the chassis to bend. And if you have time, inspect the iPhone’s camera to determine whether the lenses are scratched or damaged.

    2. The Kind of iPhone to Buy

If you are confused about what kind of used phones to buy, consider occasion iPhones by mobileup because they carry low risks. A second-hand and used iPhone that has a warranty is like icing on a birthday cake. Such phones may last for up to seven years if it is well-taken care of.

Depending on the features and price, you may decide on a second-hand iPhone model. The latest models often command higher price tags. But avoiding iPhones that have been used for more than four years will be thoughtful.

    3. Needs

There is no need to spend a lot on a used or second-hand iPhone if you are after basic smartphone usage. Users who want a taste of iPhones may try out iPhone XR or entry-level iPhone SE. These two options have everything an iPhone has to offer.

But if you are a professional photographer, you will need to spend more on an iPhone. You may opt for iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 models. And if your budget allows it, you can consider models, like iPhone 13 pro because of its camera capabilities.

    4. Box Contents

One of the best ways to make sure a product is genuine is to consider verifying the box’s contents, invoice details, and warranty. The box contents you should expect to find in most iPhone models may include a charging adapter, wired earphones, lightning cable to USB cable, and SIM ejector tool. Other components include product documentation and Apple sticker.

    5. Storage Capacity

Although the allure of low pricing is strong, keep in mind that used and second-hand iPhones are often different from the latest models and might have less storage space compared to current models.

The existing top-of-the-line phones come up with a storage of up to 512 GB for your apps, photos, music, and other data. Models that come at a lower price have 16 GB of storage. This is a big difference.

Well, size isn’t as vital as it used to be, especially for individuals who use iCloud for music and pictures. But this doesn’t mean you go for something below 64 GB of storage.

    6. Battery’s Health

Since it is a second-hand or used iPhone, its battery can’t hold 100% power capacity. You must check for two main parameters. These include performance capability and maximum capacity. To check these two, you must go to settings, battery, and battery health.

The iPhone is good enough if the maximum battery capacity is more than 90%. But if it is below that, it means you will have to charge your phone frequently.

As for performance capacity, report it as Peak Performance Capacity. Anything apart from this means you have to replace the iPhone’s battery.

    The Takeaway!

Buying a second-hand or used iPhone is a good idea. And if you pay attention to most of these things discussed here, you can be sure to buy the right iPhone.
