Igeekphone News on September 24th: A blogger disclosed on social media that Apple initially considered releasing a 4.7-inch iPhone 17 Pro mini. However, during the DVT stage, the development of this device was forced to be cancelled. An engineer said, “This device looks absurd.”
As shown in the picture, the iPhone 17 Pro mini adopts a design similar to that of the iPhone 17 Pro. The back features a large horizontal matrix camera DECO, and the middle frame and back panel are also an integrated aluminum alloy body. A super porcelain crystal glass back panel is embedded below the camera protrusion. The overall shape is like a “mini version of iPhone 17 Pro”.

Previously, Apple had attempted the small-screen route. The iPhone 12 series and iPhone 13 series successively launched mini versions for two generations, but the performance of the mini models did not meet Apple’s expectations.

Starting from the iPhone 14 series, Apple introduced the Plus model and discontinued the mini. However, the sales of the Plus series did not meet expectations. From the iPhone 17 series, Apple introduced the Air, emphasizing a thin and light design. The Plus series thus withdrew from the historical stage.
