Xiaomi has officially launched the REDMI Buds 8S in China, introducing a semi-in-ear wireless earbud designed around comfortable wear, active noise cancellation, and improved call quality. The new earbuds are priced at 229 yuan and are available in black, white, and green.
Each earbud weighs just 4.2 grams, while the semi-in-ear ergonomic design is optimized using data from more than one million ear-shaped point clouds. Xiaomi says this approach is intended to improve stability while keeping the earbuds comfortable during longer listening sessions.

For audio playback, the REDMI Buds 8S feature 11mm dynamic drivers with a large magnetic circuit. Xiaomi has also upgraded the diaphragm with a multi-layer composite structure and a high-strength dome to improve the acoustic hardware.

Noise cancellation is one of the main upgrades of the REDMI Buds 8S. Xiaomi says that by redesigning the acoustic structure and introducing a new-generation noise-cancellation algorithm, the earbuds deliver a 70% increase in overall noise cancellation compared with the previous generation.
The earbuds also support adaptive in-ear noise cancellation. The system can automatically adjust its noise-cancellation parameters according to differences in the user’s ear canal and wearing position.
Another useful feature is single-earbud noise cancellation, allowing ANC to remain available when only one earbud is being used.
AI Noise Reduction for Calls
The REDMI Buds 8S are also designed to improve voice calls in noisy environments. Xiaomi has developed a dedicated wind-noise reduction algorithm and combined it with an upgraded three-microphone AI call noise-reduction system.
According to Xiaomi, the system can achieve up to 98% noise-recognition accuracy and handle wind speeds of up to 12m/s. This is intended to reduce the impact of wind and surrounding noise during outdoor calls, including situations such as cycling or walking in windy conditions.
For users who like to fine-tune their listening experience, the earbuds offer five preset EQ modes alongside a 10-band custom equalizer.
Xiaomi HyperConnect Adds Smart Features
The REDMI Buds 8S support Xiaomi’s HyperConnect ecosystem, providing more than basic Bluetooth audio playback.
Depending on the connected Xiaomi devices and supported features, users can access functions such as device finding, one-tap photography, notification announcements, one-tap activation of Super XiaoAi, dual-device connectivity, audio switching, and audio sharing.
These features make the earbuds more closely integrated with Xiaomi’s wider device ecosystem rather than functioning only as standalone wireless earphones.
Up to 40 Hours of Battery Life
Battery life is another important part of the REDMI Buds 8S package. A single charge provides up to 7.5 hours of listening time, while the charging case extends the combined battery life to as much as 40 hours.
The earbuds also support fast charging. Xiaomi says that 10 minutes of charging can provide approximately two hours of music playback, giving users a quick way to add listening time when the battery is low.
