And the production strategy of the Galaxy S26 series was adjusted, deciding to prioritize resources on the most popular Ultra models.
Samsung originally planned to start mass production of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra models simultaneously by the end of 2025, and release them by the end of January 2026, with them going on sale in late January or early February.
However, the latest news indicates that due to the poor sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge model, Samsung has cancelled the subsequent development project of the Galaxy S26 Edge. This chain reaction has forced Samsung to adjust the production plan of its flagship series.
According to the adjusted production plan, the OLED screen used in the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is currently approved for production, and the related assembly work is expected to start in December 2025. The production license for the screens of Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ has been postponed to December, and the assembly of the entire machine is estimated to be delayed until January 2026.
An anonymous source in the industry pointed out that this move can be described as “efficient”. He explained, “From Samsung Electronics’ perspective, the company must take into account the limitations of finished product production capacity.” The development of the Ultra model has been completed, and its sales account for more than half of the total sales of the series. Therefore, it is reasonable to ensure the supply volume starting from it.
Igeekphone previously reported that Samsung will delay the release of the Galaxy S26 series. The media pointed out that although the production plan has been adjusted, the overall release rhythm may not be greatly affected, and the Galaxy Unpacked event may be held in February next year.
