Igeekphone reported on February 4th that although Sony’s mobile phones have withdrawn from the Chinese mainland market, this technological giant clearly has no intention of completely leaving.
The latest information indicates that two new Xperia models have been registered in the GSMA database. The specific models are as follows:

It is known that the XQ-GE model corresponds to the flagship phone Xperia 1 VIII, while the XQ-GH model is for the mid-range phone Xperia 10 VIII. Models ending with 44 are usually sold in Japan, 54 for the European market, and 74 for the Asian markets excluding Japan.
From the perspective of market segmentation, it is almost certain that these two new models will not be available in the Chinese mainland and the US markets. This reflects Sony’s recent shift in focus, as they are consciously reducing their mobile phone business in North America.
In terms of hardware, Sony still maintains the expected standard for a flagship device. The Xperia 1 VIII is expected to be equipped with the latest fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 supreme edition chip from Qualcomm. In contrast, the mid-range Xperia 10 VIII appears to be more pragmatic and is likely to continue using the Snapdragon 6 series processor.
For many users who have been loyal to Sony mobile phones, this might mark the end of an era. With the Sony China website removing the mobile phone section, the brand that was once unique in terms of photography and industrial design is gradually becoming a fading chapter in the history of technology.
