Igeekphone News, May 13th: Google has officially launched a new line of notebook computers – Googlebook. This product is specifically designed for the Gemini smart devices, and its core integrates Android, Google Play Store, and Chrome operating system.

At the hardware level, Google has confirmed Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo as the first batch of partners. The first batch of products is planned to be launched in the autumn of this year. Each Googlebook will be equipped with a distinctive glowing strip called Glowbar as a hardware identifier.
In terms of core interaction, Googlebook introduces a feature called Magic Pointer. With the context-aware capability of Gemini, the cursor can directly handle the screen content. Users can quickly create a meeting schedule by pointing the cursor at the email date, or select two images for side-by-side comparison display.

In addition, Gemini can also connect with Gmail and calendar services. It can build personalized desktop widgets such as travel reservations and countdown timers based on the user’s prompts.
Multi-device collaboration is another highlight of this product. The screen casting function, named “Cast My Apps”, enables the direct running of mobile apps on the computer. The quick access feature allows users to view, search for, or call files within the Android phone directly through the file browser without the need for manual transfer.

Regarding the current ecosystem, Google has clearly stated that Googlebook will not replace Chromebook for the time being. The existing devices will continue to receive updated support. Chromebooks released in 2021 and beyond will have a 10-year automatic security update period.
As for the specific chip platform, price and the final system name, Google is expected to announce them later this year.
