Igeekphone July 1st: A new report from blogger “Digital chat Station” suggests that the Xiaomi 18 has undergone a major upgrade in its camera system – it will be the first to feature a Leica dual 2-billion-pixel solution with an extremely large sensor.
It is reported that the Xiaomi 18 will be equipped with a large sensor Leica 200-megapixel main camera, along with a 200-megapixel Leica telephoto lens and a Leica ultra-wide-angle lens. The three-lens combination covers the entire focal range from wide-angle to telephoto, meeting the shooting needs of all focal lengths.
Compared with the imaging configuration of the previous generation Xiaomi 17 – a combination of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera – Xiaomi 18 has made significant leaps in terms of pixel quantity and imaging capabilities. Particularly in terms of high pixel resolution and telephoto image quality, it is expected to offer even more outstanding shooting performance.
In addition to the significant upgrade of the imaging system, the Xiaomi 18 will also be equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8E6 flagship platform. This chip is manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process and is the first mobile chip in the Qualcomm family to adopt this 2nm technology. It is expected to achieve a significant generational improvement in terms of performance and energy efficiency.
In terms of release schedule, the release rhythm of the Xiaomi 18 series has also been adjusted. It is reported that Xiaomi will launch the more powerful Xiaomi 18 Pro series first in September, while the standard version of Xiaomi 18 will be released separately later. This is different from the strategy of launching the entire series simultaneously in the previous generation.
In terms of pricing, comparing with the previous generation products, the starting prices of Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 15 both remained at 4499 yuan. However, after entering the 2nm era, the cost of chip manufacturing has significantly increased. Coupled with the general rise in prices of core components such as memory, multiple factors have led to the certainty that the price of the Xiaomi 18 series will increase. The exact extent of the increase remains to be officially announced by the official at the press conference.
