Samsung is preparing to expand its foldable smartphone portfolio with the introduction of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the first “Ultra” model in the company’s foldable lineup. Ahead of Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event, scheduled for July 22, a comprehensive set of leaked official renders and specifications has surfaced, offering a detailed look at the upcoming flagship.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, with Samsung positioning the Ultra variant as its most premium foldable smartphone to date.

Familiar Design with Premium Refinements
Based on the leaked renders, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra retains the overall design language introduced by its predecessor. The device features Samsung’s signature book-style foldable form factor with flat edges, a slim profile, and a vertically aligned triple-camera module positioned along the left side of the rear panel.
While the design remains sleek and recognizable, it also appears to inherit one of the previous generation’s compromises. The protruding rear camera module may cause the device to wobble when placed on a flat surface, while its off-center camera placement could limit compatibility with certain magnetic accessories.
Overall, Samsung seems to have prioritized refinement over a complete redesign, focusing instead on hardware upgrades and premium features.

Four Colors, Including an Online Exclusive
According to the leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be available in four color options:
- Deep Purple (hero launch color)
- White
- Gray Black
- Dark Green (Samsung online exclusive)
Samsung is expected to promote Deep Purple as the signature color for this year’s flagship, while the Dark Green finish will reportedly be available exclusively through Samsung’s official online store.
Snapdragon Flagship Platform and Up to 1TB Storage
Powering the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to be Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, a customized version of the company’s newest flagship processor optimized specifically for Samsung devices.

Leaked configurations include:
- Up to 16GB RAM
- Up to 1TB internal storage
- One UI 9 based on Android
- Seven years of Android OS and security updates
Samsung continues to lead the Android ecosystem with one of the industry’s longest software support commitments, extending the usable lifespan of its premium smartphones.
Bigger Battery and Faster Charging
Battery life appears to receive one of the most significant upgrades in this generation.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is rumored to feature a 5,000mAh battery, an increase from the 4,400mAh capacity found in the previous model.
Charging capabilities are also expected to improve:
- 45W wired fast charging
- 20W wireless charging
- Wireless reverse charging
The larger battery and faster charging speeds aim to address one of the most common concerns among foldable smartphone users—battery endurance during heavy multitasking and large-screen usage.

Ultra Model Gets Exclusive Camera Upgrades
Samsung is reportedly differentiating the Ultra model with an enhanced camera system.
The leaked specifications include:
- 200MP primary camera
- 50MP ultra-wide camera
- 3x optical telephoto camera
Both the front and rear cameras are expected to support 4K video recording, while the rear camera system will also offer 8K video capture, continuing Samsung’s focus on professional-grade mobile photography.
S Pen Returns—But Only for the Ultra
One of the most notable additions is the return of integrated S Pen functionality.
Unlike the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, the Ultra version is expected to include dedicated hardware support for Samsung’s stylus, allowing users to write, sketch, annotate documents, and boost productivity without requiring additional accessories.
This move further distinguishes the Ultra model from the standard Fold and reinforces Samsung’s strategy of bringing Galaxy Note-style functionality to its premium foldable lineup.
Premium Pricing Reflects Flagship Positioning
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is also expected to become Samsung’s most expensive mainstream smartphone.
Leaked pricing suggests:
- Europe: €2,199 for the 12GB + 256GB model
- United States: Starting at approximately US$2,100
The higher pricing reflects the Ultra model’s upgraded hardware, exclusive features, and positioning at the top of Samsung’s foldable portfolio.
Looking Ahead
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to mark another significant step in the evolution of foldable smartphones. Rather than introducing a dramatic redesign, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra appears to focus on meaningful refinements, including a larger battery, enhanced cameras, flagship performance, extended software support, and the return of integrated S Pen functionality.
If the leaked specifications are confirmed, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra could emerge as one of the most capable and feature-rich foldable smartphones available, further strengthening Samsung’s leadership in the premium foldable market.
