Xiaomi has officially revealed roadmap for future MIUI custom ROM updates for its smartphones. Till now, each & every Xiaomi smartphone have received all the updates, but now company announces that MIUI 9 will be the last major update for six of its devices.
Xiaomi in a Forum post says “After November 17, updates for the following 6 devices — namely, Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime and Mi Note — will be suspended, both closed beta and public beta. MIUI Global Beta ROM 7.11.16 is the last beta update for the above devices”.
This will be the first time Xiaomi dropping its devices for future upgrades. The main reason for removing these devices from future updates is to ensure better MIUI performance. “We have to make a tough decision of suspending the update of 6 devices after a long-time discussion and evaluation about the release time of devices, active users, hardware performance, etc”.

The list of Xiaomi phones expected to get MIUI 10 update includes Mi 6, Mi 5/5s/Plus, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 4S, Mi 4c, Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, Redmi Y1/Lite, Mi Note 2, Mi Note 3, Redmi Note 3/Pro, Redmi Note 4/4X, Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 5A, Mi 5X, Mi Max, Mi Max 2, Redmi 4/4X, Redmi 4A, Redmi 3/3s/Prime, Redmi Pro, Redmi 3x, and Mi Pad 3.
MIUI 10 Release Date
Company didn’t revealed any confirm date for the announcement of MIUI 10 ROM. But, it is expected to launch somewhere in July or August and OTA roll out from November 2018.

MIUI 10 Features
Soon after the release of MIUI 9, Xiaomi shifts its attention to the next MIUI version, MIUI 10. Xiaomi Co-Founder and Vice President ‘Hong Feng’ says that the tenth version of MIUI will be smarter rather than being faster on which the current MIUI 9 relies on.
Currently, MIUI 9 is lightning fast custom Android OS. Xiaomi has removed more than 50 functions which were less used by the users to make ROM lighter and fastest. Coming to MIUI 10, the company will go quite opposite. Xiaomi VP says that the next version of MIUI will be the unfinished business of MIUI 9, which is smart voice assistant. Apart from this, the new version brings new emoji, revamped notifications and ‘notification dots’, new setting menu, better battery life, and more.

As MIUI 9 is an Android 7.0/7.1Nougat based ROM, MIUI 10 will be most probably based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Android 8.0 is Google’s latest OS with top features like picture-in-picture mode, multi-window, Google Play Protect, System UI Tuner, autofill and smart text selection, better animations, adaptive icons, and more.
