Samsung Galaxy Note 7 vs. iPhone 6s Plus – and the winner is….

Samsung and Apple are the two biggest companies in the mobile market. There where times that could one is copying the other, but for sure not now. Samsung has glass-backed designs, with curved panels, super-slim bezels, big battery and wireless charging. On the other hand Apple has super-slim metal handsets with its own tightly controlled hardware and software, where performance and ease of use is king.

Now that Note 7 came out, lets compare it with the iPhone 6s Plus. Doing so we notice that there is a big difference in the philosophies.

Note 7 has a subtly curved 5.7-inch Quad HD (1440p) screen panel into a device with a smaller footprint than the iPhone. The screen resolution is higher and no trade-offs of course in terms of color accuracy, brightness or daylight visibility. iPhone’s on the other hand has a 5.5-inch 1080p screen panel, which it might be good,  but Samsung’s QHD screen is arguably the best we’ve seen on any smartphone. Even more, Samsung packs a bigger with a higher-res screen into a smaller body. This makes the bezels in the 6s Plus to look enormous by comparison.

Both phones are what we call flagships with plenty of power. iPhone has a A9 processor with only 2GB of RAM, when Samsung is equipped with octa-core Exynos chip or Snapdragon 820 depending on where you buy it, paired with 4GB Ram. We know very well that android is memory hunger and uses all the memory it can gets to work smoothly, when IOS can work very well with less memory. Both are really very fast in everyday chalenge. Of course some gaming benchmarks put the iPhone ahead, at least until Vulkan support ramps up.

Software is another huge point of contrast with a lot of duels among users. Note 7 is using latest TouchWiz UI, based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. We’re less than a month away from the launch of Android 7.0 Nougat, so there is a big possibility to be shipped not with the latest OS.

On the other hand iPhone owners will get iOS 10 on launch day regardless of operator. Of course this could be good and bad at the same time, as there where times of faulty upgrades. Samsung is trying with monthly patches to be updated. At least for this, Google’s Nexus phones is the winner, no doubt about it!

Comparison of the cameras in the two mobiles is something that we all take serious. Galaxy Note 7 has the same camera modules front and back with S7. Samsung focuses on low-light performance in 2016, with larger pixels in a 12-megapixel shooter with optical image stabilization behind an f/1.7 lens. iPhone’s with the 12-megapixel OIS shooter has a less spectacular f/2.2 len. Nevertheless iPhone is not doing bad in this comparison.

Each device also has its own collection of unique characteristics. Note 7 has the S Pen, now with 4,096 levels of sensitivity, giving you the ability to sketch notes on the screen when it’s off, easily annotate screenshots, draw your own pretty pictures — or even make GIFs. Iris scanning is also something new in the Note 7, allowing you to unlock the phone or secure apps and files without using the fingerprint scanner. iPhone users have a faster fingerprint unlock technology, in the form of Touch ID, along with 3D Touch, which lets you bring up contextual menus and peek into messages and web links with a harder press.

The major question is will iPhone 7 measure up?

Both mobiles are really very good, with one major difference….iPhone 6S is one year old, Note 7 will come out soon, so there cannot be any real comparison. In case we see a new model from Apple, then the comparison will be more realist. So until then, Samsung Note 7 vs iPhone 6S has no winner! Check more about Samsung Mobile here right now.
