It seems that Android 9.0 has finally arrived for the Amlogic S905W Low-Cost SoC as it comes standard on the A968 TV-Box that we found listed today in the Bangoog store. An operating system upgrade like this is always interesting as it allows us to increase the life of our device and provide it with new features. Now it’s time to wait to see if Android 9.0 stays only for new TV-Boxes or also goes out to update any of the S905W SoC boxes that have been on the market for some time.
The A968 Smart Box can be used as a basic media player with KODI in FHD resolution and can also run simple games without too many graphics requirements. The SoC Amlogic S905W of A968 consists of a Quad-core Cortex A53 processor with a frequency of up to 1.5 GHz and a Mali-450MP2 GPU. In terms of performance, this SoC roughly corresponds to SoC Rockchip RK3328. The processor can play 4K @60 Hz, decode H.264, 10-bit H.265 and VP9, as well as HDR10. The set-top box has 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, 16 GB of eMMC flash memory and can be extended with a TF card slot up to 32 GB.
At the wireless connectivity level, we have WiFi b / g / n with internal antenna since it does not have Bluetooth. As for connectors, it includes 2 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI 2.0 port, IR sensor extender for the remote control, 10/100 network connector and finally an analog port for audio and video, a fairly basic configuration in this aspect.
It also includes a basic infrared remote control, cables and power supply in the box. The A968 Mini TV Box is currently available on Banggood for $23.99. This price would last for the next 95pcs, so do well to make good use of this great opportunity.
