Igeekphone News, May 30th: Technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (May 29th), reporting that Google Pixel 10 series smartphones will continue to support satellite connection functionality.
The Google Pixel 9 series was the first to support the native Android Satellite SOS function, enabling users to send distress messages to emergency service departments even in an environment without a network. Although this function is not necessary on a daily basis, it is crucial at critical moments.
This media delves deeply into the APK files of Adaptive Connectivity Services applications. It was found in the code that the three mobile phones, Pixel 10 (code name GLBW0), Pixel 10 Pro (code name G4QUR) and Pixel 10 Pro XL (code name GUL82), will continue the satellite function.
Although the Pixel 10 Pro Fold (code-named GU0NP) has not yet appeared in the code, it is not ruled out that support will be added in the future.
The Pixel 10 series is expected to be equipped with the Tensor G5 chip and the brand-new Mediatek T900 baseband, replacing the previous Samsung Exynos modems. This hardware upgrade complies with the 3GPP Release 17 standard, supports 5G narrowband format, and is applicable to non-terrestrial networks (NTNs).
The baseband of Mediatek T900 is expected to support Release 17 or even newer standards, ensuring that the Pixel 10 series has satellite communication capabilities at the hardware level. This indicates that while Google is changing its suppliers, it is still committed to retaining and optimizing the satellite connection function to provide users with more reliable emergency communication guarantees.
