The Atomstack A5 Pro Engraver is a medium-priced device for home use. The Machine’s performance is sufficient to precisely cut some materials such as foam rubber or cardboard. However, the often relatively small work surface is a well-known problem with such entry-level devices.
Design
Even an inexperienced layman can set it up in about 20 minutes. Preparing the ATOMSTACK A5 Pro is easy. Only the workpiece and the laser have to be positioned. Then simply select the starting point in the software and send the code to the laser. Finally, the selected motif is either cut or engraved according to the set speed and strength.
The belts are tensioned and fastened at the ends of the profiles with a screw and a slot nut. The belt lies in the upper groove and is guided by the V-slot rollers. So the motor moves with the axle and drives with it. Simple, efficient, and amazingly precise. The same construction is on the X-axis on the carriage of the laser.
Features
The most important part is the interval scale. By scanning vertically and horizontally with different interval steps, we can approximate the size of the laser spot. From the results, we can see that the laser spot of the ATOMSTACK A5 Pro is more or less rectangular because the pattern looks the same when scanned in the horizontal (X-axis) and vertical (Y-axis) directions.
The text engraving is done at 600mm/sec, which is pretty fast for such a small movement, so some wobble of the laser head can be seen in the corners. This can easily be avoided by lowering the acceleration and speed in the settings. It should only be used with suitable protective goggles designed for the laser. Likewise, the device should not be operated in closed rooms without housing with suitable air filtering and extraction, as well as fire extinguishing equipment.
