Chuwi CoreBook Air Plus Review: A Premium 16″ Ryzen Laptop for Productivity and Portability

Chuwi CoreBook Air Plus is an upcoming 16-inch laptop designed to blend performance, portability, and modern features — ideal for students, professionals, and creators who need a capable machine on the go without a high price tag.

    Design & Build Quality

The CoreBook Air Plus sports a sleek, ultra-thin aluminum chassis with an attractive indigo blue finish, giving it a premium look that belies its affordable positioning. Weighing just around 1.35 kg and measuring roughly 9–16.3 mm thick, it’s one of CHUWI’s lightest 16″ laptops — easy to carry whether you’re commuting, traveling, or moving around campus.

Display — Big, Vibrant, and Productive

At the heart of the CoreBook Air Plus is its 16″ IPS display with WUXGA resolution (1920 × 1200) and a 16:10 aspect ratio, offering vibrant colors and more vertical screen real estate than standard 16:9 panels. The slim bezels and broad viewing angles make it suitable for document editing, presentations, and media consumption.

    Performance — Balanced and Capable

Under the hood, this laptop packs an AMD Ryzen™ 5 processor with 6 cores and 12 threads, capable of handling everyday productivity tasks, light content creation, and even casual gaming. The integrated AMD Radeon™ 660M graphics with RDNA2 architecture further boost visuals for multimedia and light gaming scenarios.

Paired with 16 GB of high-speed LPDDR5 RAM and a 512 GB PCIe-NVMe SSD, the CoreBook Air Plus provides responsive multitasking and fast app loading — and the SSD is even upgradeable to PCIe 4.0 ×4 for future expandability.

    Typing, Navigation & Connectivity

Productivity is enhanced with a full-size backlit keyboard and a large touchpad. A dedicated Copilot key brings up Windows’ AI assistant with a single press — a thoughtful extra for modern workflows. On the connectivity front, the CoreBook Air Plus offers a good mix of ports: multiple USB-C (including two full-featured ports), USB-A, HDMI 2.1 (supporting up to 4K @ 60 Hz), and a 3.5 mm audio jack — making it easy to connect peripherals, displays, and accessories.

    Webcam & Security Features

A 2 MP Full-HD infrared (IR) webcam delivers clear video for meetings or online classes, and includes a privacy shutter for peace of mind. The laptop also supports Windows Hello facial recognition, allowing you to unlock your machine quickly and securely.

    Battery Life & Charging

With a 60 Wh battery and 65 W USB-C PD fast charging, the CoreBook Air Plus promises solid endurance for video playback or typical office tasks, plus speedy top-ups when needed — reportedly reaching around 80% charge in about an hour under testing conditions.

    Who Should Consider It?

The Chuwi CoreBook Air Plus targets users who want:

    • A larger 16″ display with great color and productivity-friendly aspect ratio

    • A powerful midrange configuration suitable for daily work, browsing, and media

    • A light, premium-feeling laptop for travel, school, or office

    • Good connectivity and expandability without spending flagship prices

It competes well against other portable 16″ machines by offering a balanced mix of performance, size, and build quality.

    Putting It in Perspective

Compared to smaller budget machines like Chuwi 15.6” Gemibook Plus Laptop, which also serve students and casual users, CoreBook Air Plus strides ahead in performance, display size/quality, and premium features — though likely at a higher price. If you prioritize mobility and productivity in a larger form factor coupled with modern ports and Ryzen power, the CoreBook Air Plus is a compelling choice among budget-friendly Windows laptops.
