The Creality CR-Scan Lizard 3D Scanner is a device successfully on sale at Newegg. After the CR-Scan 01 of 2021, Creality continues to innovate with a brand new model that is very different from the previous one. The latter is simple, precise, and effective while remaining affordable, even for individuals. Let’s talk more about it.
Design
The light source of the lizard 3D scanner makes it possible to obtain an accuracy of the order of 0.05 mm whatever the light conditions and without risk to the eyes. The minimum scan volume is 15 x 15 x 15 mm for the smallest objects, for a speed of 10 frames per second. The light source is of the LED + NIR type.
The ideal distance for 3D scanning, on a table or by hand, is between 150 and 400 between the Lizard scanner and the object to be captured. Scanning is as easy as shooting video. Whatever its size and color, just film the object without the need to use any markers. The Creality CR-SCAN 01 weighs around 800G and is therefore a real lightweight, which is why it is suitable for various uses. Even when scanning for a long time, the 3D scanner is comfortable to hold and does its job really well.
Turntable Mode
The flexible scanning of objects of different sizes is made possible by the handheld mode, without any marking points. Automatic scanning is made significantly easier by a tripod and a turntable. With just one click, multiple poses are captured, automatically aligned, and assembled into a complete 3D model.
3 Equipment Levels
The standard set only contains the scanner itself and the associated cables. This allows objects to be scanned freehand. The accuracy is not quite as high here, but the device is suitable for models between 500mm and 1500mm.
The premium set comes with an additional turntable. Objects with a size between 15mm and 300mm can be positioned on it. The table then rotates automatically and the 3D scanner positioned on a tripod can achieve the most accurate results – according to the manufacturer, the accuracy is 0.05mm.
In the luxury set, the premium bundle is supplemented with the option of taking color photos of the objects with a smartphone/camera. This requires a special tripod and a kind of photo box (both included). In addition to the scan, the color can also be recorded for models up to a size of 300mm.

Creality has launched CR Studio software for the scanning process. This is equipped with a whole range of algorithms that automatically fill holes in the scan, smooth it, align multiple scans correctly, and much more.
