We have talked about DJI first foldable rc drone, DJI Mavic Pro before, But not it has been officially released. As you know Yuneec has introduced a drone with foldable arms before, so does GoPro Karma Drone, we can see the tendency of RC Drone has become more and more portable and compact for users.
DJI Mavic Pro in terms of its size and weight is as half one as DJI Phantom drone. Of course, it designs much slimmer, due to the props the rotors fold in over the body, making the whole profile small enough to fit into a backpack or even a purse. Hell I almost jammed it into the back pocket of some ordinary pants.
DJI Mavic Pro has 4.3mile (7km) range which is quite far compared with other drones foldable right now. It has a transmitter which can be foldable and can be used for smartphone for FPV. The Amazing feature about Mavic Pro is that while it shrinks the physical form factor of a DJI drone down significantly, it doesn’t sacrifice any of the advanced features that make the Phantom series so popular. You still get sensors on the front and bottom, providing you with obstacle avoidance, subject tracking, autonomous landing, and stability indoors without GPS.
As for its camera, it has 12MP camera that can support for Adobe DNG RAW, and this camera is same as DJI Phantom 4 that can shoot 4K video at 30 fps and full 1080p HD at 96 fps. As for fly distance, it can run 40 miles per hour (64 km/s), around 10% less than other DJI’s bigger Phantom’s lineup. Meanwhile, it can support up to 27 minutes flying time. It’s good to hear that it has taked the new obstacle avoidance technology, which can avoid crashing the surface up to 15 meters away while flying at a speed of 36 km/h.
So how much is the DJI Mavic Pro? According to DJI official, it will sell at $740, but bundle price for a drone and transmitter, it will be at $999.
