EPOMAKER EA75 Review: The Gasket-Mount King Under $80?

In a market saturated with mechanical keyboards, it’s difficult to stand out without going overboard. Epomaker is taking a risk with the EA75, a compact 75% model with a sleek, feature-rich, and well-thought-out design. Between its multifunction scroll wheel, gasket mount structure, and triple connectivity, this keyboard ticks many boxes. It remains to be seen whether it lives up to its promise.

    DESIGN

The Epomaker EA75 features a compact 75% form factor (81 keys + scroll wheel) with a modern style, with a rigid plastic chassis.

The finish is sturdy, yet lightweight enough to be easily carried. The EPOMAKER EA75 features a full row of function keys at the top, a gasket-mounted keyboard, and a small, customizable corner scroll wheel (which also serves for lighting adjustments).

The keys are made of double-shot ABS with a Cherry profile, covered with a pleasant texture (here in white and pastel blue) that resists gloss. The RGB lighting per key (and two dynamic side stripes) adds aesthetics without detracting from the overall sobriety. It is also equipped with two-level adjustment pads, which are convenient for having an ideal setting.

The Epomaker EA75 impact is softened by the gasket mount structure with 5 layers of foam, which reduces vibrations and background noise. LEOBOG Reaper mechanical switches are linear and factory-lubricated. They offer a creamy, smooth feel, with a more muted than sharp sound, similar to Cherry MX Red. Overall, the feel is smooth and fast.

    Connectivity

The setup handles high frequency (1 kHz wired/2.4 GHz polling) well for gaming. Typing is fairly quiet compared to an undamped keyboard, and responsiveness is excellent for gaming or intensive typing sessions.

The Epomaker EA75 offers three connection modes: USB-C (wired), 2.4 GHz wireless (USB dongle stored in the keyboard), and Bluetooth (up to 3 devices switchable). The side switch allows you to quickly switch between modes.

    RGB Backlight

The RGB backlighting is fully customizable: you can adjust the colors, effects, speed, and intensity either through the Epomaker software or directly through key combinations.

The internal software (which is keyboard-specific and not global for all keyboards of the brand) provides access to key remapping, macro creation, and lighting profile editing. However, adjusting the wheel was more complex, requiring the use of PowerToys to remap its movements. Once adjusted, the wheel proves very practical: in addition to volume control, it can change the RGB effect by rotating or clicking.

    Switches

In this case, our Epomaker EA75 is equipped with LEOBOG Reaper switches. The Reaper comes pre-lubed from the factory and includes light diffusers to enhance the effect of the side-printed keycaps. While testing the keyboard, we felt the switches were smooth and faster than some others, but you can expect a bit heavier personality than some of the most widespread linear switches on the market; we liked this balance as it felt responsive but also more versatile with a lower rate of typing errors.

    Battery

The Epomaker EA75 features a 4000 mAh rechargeable battery. Battery life lasts approximately 1.5 days of continuous use with the backlight on. Without the backlight, you can expect several days of normal use. Charging is via the USB-C port (cable included), and the charge status is indicated by LEDs.

    Highlights

    • Neat compact design
    • Excellent typing feel
    • Triple connectivity
    • Advanced customization via software

    Weaknesses

    • Autonomy could be improved
    • Specific software for each keyboard
    • Qwerty Only

    Verdict

The Epomaker EA75 is offered at an attractive price range, and the package is well-made and thoughtful, balancing aesthetic and functional qualities, as well as the game caricature and professional-grade equipment. With an understated 75% layout, high-end design elements like a gasket mount and pre-lubed LEOBOG Reaper switches, and forward-thinking features like triple-mode connectivity and full QMK/VIA support, it’s a board that strikes a balance between typists and gamers.

Those with features like its aluminum scroll wheel, south-facing RGB lighting, or layers of acoustic foam make the overall user experience well exceed the standard for its price bracket. And, yes, the software could be more unified across their range, as well as in battery life. While full RGB isn’t exactly earth-shattering, the comparatively small numbers are in light of the overall picture you’re getting.
