When it comes to wireless keyboards, finding a balance between quality and price can be tricky. The Epomaker HE75 Tri promises a lot: magnetic switches, tri-mode connectivity, and a premium feel, all without breaking the bank. But does it live up to the hype? In this review, I’ll walk you through my experience with this keyboard, covering everything from its build quality and design to its performance and features. Let’s dive in and see if the Epomaker HE75 Tri truly offers the best value for money in the wireless magnetic keyboard market.

    Inside the BoxEpomaker HE75 Tri

When unboxing the Epomaker HE75 Tri, you’ll find everything you need to get started. The keyboard itself is the main attraction, offering a sleek and compact design. Alongside it, you’ll find a high-quality USB cable for easy connectivity, ensuring a stable and reliable connection for both wired and wireless modes. A user manual is included, providing helpful guidance on setting up and customizing your keyboard, especially if you’re new to mechanical keyboards. Finally, a keycap puller is included, allowing for effortless removal and customization of the keycaps, perfect for those who enjoy personalizing their typing experience.

    Design and BuildEpomaker HE75 Tri

The Epomaker HE75 Tri is a solid offering in the wireless mechanical keyboard space, with a sleek design and build quality that challenges more expensive options in the market. Right out of the box, the keyboard feels well-constructed despite being made primarily from ABS plastic. The weight of the keyboard suggests there’s more to it than just plastic—likely due to the inclusion of a large 4000mAh battery and a gasket-mount structure that contributes to its premium feel.

    Epomaker HE75 Tri

The keyboard’s design is minimalist yet eye-catching, with a clean, modern aesthetic. The grey tint on the top plate is a standout, providing a unique touch without being overly flashy. The compact 75% layout is ideal for users who need a balance of productivity and compactness, offering ample space for mouse movement without compromising on essential keys like the function and arrow keys.Epomaker HE75 Tri

A notable feature of the Epomaker HE75 Tri is its swappable knob module. Instead of being fixed in place, this knob can be swapped out for two additional customizable keys. This adds a layer of customization to the keyboard, which is a great plus for users who value flexibility in their setups.

The keycaps are PBT double-shot, a high-quality material known for its durability and resistance to shine. The Cherry profile offers a comfortable typing experience, and the keycaps are well-made, with no wobble or noticeable imperfections. They fit snugly on the switches, providing a smooth typing experience that adds to the overall high-quality feel of the keyboard.

One of the standout features of the keyboard’s build is its gasket-mount structure. This design isolates the PCB from the case, providing a softer typing experience while reducing harsh vibrations and improving the sound profile. This structure, combined with the 5 layers of sound-dampening materials (including Poron Sandwich Foam, IXPE Switch Pads, Sound Enhancement Pads, and Bottom Silicone Pads), results in a muted, creamy “thock” sound with each keystroke. The sound is quieter compared to other mechanical keyboards in the same price range, making it suitable for those who want a quieter typing experience without compromising on tactility.

The build quality also benefits from the flex-cut PC plate, which enhances the overall typing feel and ensures there’s a comfortable amount of flex without being too soft. The soft cushion from the gasket mount and the additional layers of dampening materials help to eliminate pinging and resonating noise, allowing the keyboard to sound more refined and less harsh than many of its competitors.

    RGB

In terms of RGB lighting, the Epomaker HE75 Tri features south-facing, per-key RGB LEDs that shine brightly through the cherry profile keycaps. While the RGB lighting is customizable and vibrant, the keyboard’s aesthetic remains clean, as the light is subtle enough not to overwhelm the overall design. The lighting is a functional touch, especially useful in low-light environments, but not the defining feature of the keyboard.

    Switches: Epomaker Flamingo Linear

The Epomaker Flamingo Linear Switches are one of the standout features of this keyboard. As a linear switch, it provides a smooth keystroke with minimal resistance, making it ideal for fast typing and gaming sessions. The switches are factory-lubed, which helps reduce friction and gives the typing experience a smoother feel. They are also quite quiet, which makes them an excellent choice for office environments or shared spaces, where noise might be a concern.

The initial actuation force is around 35gf, which feels light enough to provide a responsive typing experience without being too sensitive. The actuation force sits around 47±5gf, and the bottom-out force is 60 max. This makes for a balanced feel — not too heavy, yet not so light that you miss keystrokes unintentionally.

What I noticed about the Flamingo Linear Switches is how well they complement the keyboard’s gasket mount design and five layers of sound-dampening materials, resulting in a very soft “thock” sound when you press a key. The noise profile is creamy and smooth, with little to no harsh high-pitched sound, making for a pleasant typing experience.

Another important aspect of these switches is their actuation travel distance of 1.50±2.00mm, which is ideal for fast and responsive typing. Whether you’re gaming or typing at speed, the linear switches are consistent and quick to respond.

One potential drawback, however, is that the spacebar does exhibit some rattle. It’s not something that necessarily ruins the experience, but if you’re very particular about sound, this could be something to keep in mind. Still, considering the price and the smoothness of the other keys, it’s not a dealbreaker.

    Software & Customization

Epomaker provides its software for customizing the keyboard’s performance. Although the software isn’t web-based (which I would have preferred), it’s functional and easy to use. Key features include:

    • Key Remapping: You can easily swap out key functions or set up macros.
    • Actuation Point Adjustment: The ability to fine-tune the actuation distance is a big plus. I adjusted my WASD keys to the 0.1mm rapid trigger for faster response times.
    • Rapid Trigger & Snap Tap: These features are great for gamers, as they ensure the keyboard registers even the lightest touch.
    • RGB Customization: The keyboard’s RGB backlighting is vibrant, and the software allows you to choose from several lighting effects, including a snow effect and ripple effects upon key press.

You can also modify the function of the knob, either using it as a programmable knob or swapping it for two extra keys. This flexibility is great for users who need specific functionality at their fingertips.

    Battery Performance

The battery life of the Epomaker HE75 Tri is a standout feature that genuinely impressed me throughout my testing. With a massive 4000mAh battery packed into this compact 75% form factor, the keyboard is optimized for extended use, both wired and wirelessly, ensuring it doesn’t easily run out of juice during gaming sessions or day-to-day tasks.

    My Experience of Battery

In my experience, the battery lasted remarkably well, and it’s safe to say that it outperformed my expectations. Even with prolonged use in wireless mode, which typically drains the battery more rapidly than in wired mode, I did not face any issues with the keyboard dying on me unexpectedly. For reference, I used the keyboard wirelessly for gaming and general productivity tasks, and it never showed any signs of substantial depletion during my tests. I didn’t need to charge it throughout my review period, and I only did so out of habit.

The keyboard also supports tri-mode connectivity, which includes Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz wireless, and wired via USB-C. The battery performance is excellent across these modes, but it is worth noting that the 2.4GHz wireless mode seems to offer a better balance of latency and battery conservation compared to Bluetooth. Bluetooth, while still functional, has a lower polling rate (125Hz), which could affect gaming performance for those who are sensitive to input lag.

    Standby Time and Charging

When not in use, the keyboard does a solid job of conserving energy. The keyboard can go into a low-power state after periods of inactivity, but even with the RGB lighting running, I found the battery life to be quite reliable. I kept it on 2.4GHz wireless mode for most of the time, with RGB effects enabled. When I wasn’t using the keyboard, I had no problems with it draining excessively in idle mode.

When it came time to charge, the 4000mAh battery charged relatively quickly through the USB-C connection, and the charging process was straightforward without any noticeable hiccups. Epomaker made a conscious effort to create a keyboard that offers excellent battery performance without compromising on the quality of the typing experience or the functionality of the keyboard.

    Connectivity

While the wired performance is, of course, not battery-dependent, it’s worth discussing how the keyboard behaves when using it wirelessly. The HE75 Tri offers an impressive level of low latency while wirelessly connected, even in the 2.4GHz mode. Given the 1000Hz polling rate in both 2.4GHz and wired modes, the keyboard does not feel sluggish, making it quite suitable for gaming and fast-paced work environments, despite being wireless.

I tested the keyboard in both gaming and typing scenarios, and the battery held up well in both. In gaming, where the keyboard is often subjected to intense, repeated key presses, the 2.4GHz connection felt smooth and without noticeable delay, all while the battery seemed to last for an entire day of heavy use. In daily productivity tasks, it was just as efficient, easily going two or three days between charges, depending on how much I was using it.

Final Thoughts: Is it Worth It?

So, is the Epomaker HE75 Tri with Flamingo switches worth your investment? For me, the answer is a resounding yes. It’s incredibly affordable, especially when compared to other wireless magnetic keyboards on the market. You get a premium typing experience with a gasket mount, linear switches, and excellent wireless performance. The keyboard is also highly customizable, whether it’s the switches, keycaps, or knob.

If you’re in the market for a wireless mechanical keyboard that’s budget-friendly, responsive, and packed with features, the Epomaker HE75 Tri is hard to beat. I’d especially recommend it to gamers and professionals who value both performance and aesthetics without breaking the bank.

    Pros:

    • Tri-mode connectivity (USB-C, 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 5.0)
    • Low-latency performance (ideal for gaming)
    • Customizable knob and hot-swappable switches
    • Gasket-mounted design for a soft typing experience
    • Affordable price for the features offered

    Cons:

    • Some minor rattle on the spacebar
    • Software isn’t web-based (but still functional)
