Igeekphone News, June 11th: The technology media Android Authority published a blog post today (June 11th), reporting that Google has newly released the Beta 2 test version of Android 16 QPR1, mainly introducing the desktop mode of Connected Displays.
This feature is currently supported by Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series mobile phones. Users only need to enter the developer Settings and enable “Desktop Experience Features” to experience it.
Google said that this feature draws on the design concept of Samsung DeX, aiming to provide users with a more efficient multitasking environment. After the user connects the device to an external display, they can immediately switch to an operation interface similar to that of a PC.
The new version also brings the “Desktop windowing” feature to tablet devices, allowing users to run multiple applications simultaneously and freely adjust the window size. Even more exciting is that this function seamlessly integrates with the desktop mode, allowing external displays and tablet screens to form a continuous system.
Google explained that the application window, content and mouse cursor can move freely between the two screens, greatly enhancing the flexibility of operation. In addition, the update has added custom keyboard shortcuts and taskbar overflow functionality. When there are too many taskbar applications, the system will pop up a carousel menu for quick switching.
