Igeekphone News, June 12th: According to Android Authority, Google plans to introduce the Qi2 wireless charging function in its upcoming Pixel 10 phone.
According to Igeekphone, the Qi2 wireless charging standard was released at CES in 2023, and Apple made significant contributions during its development process. This standard has been improved on the basis of the original Qi standard by incorporating magnetic attraction technology to ensure that devices can be precisely aligned during charging. This magnetic attraction alignment technology is precisely based on Apple’s MagSafe technology. After the release of this standard, the outside world expected it to be quickly popularized in Android devices.
However, the situation in 2024 was disappointing. None of the major Android device manufacturers have launched devices that support the Qi2 standard, and the promotion of this standard in the Android camp has come to a standstill.
But nowadays, Google seems likely to break this deadlock. According to sources from Android Authority, they have seen some credible marketing materials targeting retailers, showing that Google is developing a series of magnetic Qi2 accessories for the Pixel 10. Google may name this magnetic ecosystem “Pixelsnap” and plans to launch at least three related accessories, including a Pixelsnap charger, a charger with a stand, and a ring-shaped stand.
If the Pixel 10 does support the magnetic attraction function, then the Pixel Snap charger with a Stand is likely to be the successor to Google’s Pixel Stand. This means that users can magnetically fix their phones on the stand and achieve wireless charging at the same time, greatly enhancing the convenience of use.
In terms of technical specifications, the Pixel 10 will support the Qi 2.2 standard, and the maximum charging power supported by its hardware can reach 60W. However, Google will eventually determine the specific charging power of each compatible mobile phone.
