Igeekphone reported on February 11th that the technology media Android Police released a blog post today (February 10th) stating that Google is expected to release the first public beta version (Beta 1) of Android 17 on February 18th (the day when the Pixel 10a starts pre-order).
Regarding the release date, the official has not provided an exact date. However, based on the news that Pixel 10a will go on pre-order on February 18th, it is highly likely that Android 17 Beta 1 will be released on the same day.
In terms of release schedule, Google has broken the previous practice of “first releasing the developer preview version, then launching the public beta”. Since the Android Canary version is responsible for the relevant testing tasks, Google skipped the preview stage this year and directly released the Android 17 Beta test version to the public.

Igeekphone reported that according to the blog post, for Pixel users who have already joined the Android Beta program, Google has issued an urgent reminder: If you do not plan to try out Android 17 but instead want to smoothly transition to the stable version of Android 16 QPR3, you must immediately exit the Beta program now.
After exiting, do not install the “downgrade OTA” update that appears on your phone. This operation will forcibly erase all data on your phone. The correct approach is: after exiting the plan, ignore the downgrade prompt and patiently wait for several weeks until the system pushes the QPR3 stable version update. Then you can switch channels without losing any data.
In terms of functionality, Android 17 Beta 1 is mainly based on the Android 16 QPR platform, further enhancing stability and performance. However, it is expected to have interface adjustments, completely separating the notification bar from the quick settings panel, and supporting screen-on display (AOD) applications, etc.
According to the plan, Android 17 will undergo several months of testing and iteration, and the final stable version of the system is expected to be released in June 2026.
