HMD Slate Tab 5G Full Specifications Leak: 10.6-Inch 2K 90Hz Display and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2

HMD Slate Tab 5G could soon become one of HMD’s more interesting Android tablets, with a new leak revealing what is claimed to be the device’s full specifications.

According to information reported by Nokia-focused outlet NokiaNews, the upcoming HMD tablet will combine a 10.6-inch 90Hz display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and 5G connectivity.

The leaked specifications also suggest that HMD is targeting users who want a relatively compact tablet with cellular connectivity rather than a basic Wi-Fi-only device.

HMD Slate Tab 5G Uses a Lumia-Inspired Design

The HMD Slate Tab 5G is reportedly built around HMD’s Fabula design language, which draws inspiration from the design of the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet.

The design reportedly draws inspiration from the Nokia Lumia 2520, one of the most distinctive tablets associated with the Nokia brand.

That could give the Slate Tab 5G a more distinctive appearance compared with many modern Android tablets, which often use similar flat-metal designs.

The leaked configuration also suggests that HMD is focusing on a balance between portability and functionality rather than competing directly with premium flagship tablets.

    10.6-Inch 90Hz IPS LCD Display

According to the leaked specifications, the HMD Slate Tab 5G will feature a 10.6-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2000 × 1200 pixels.

The panel is also expected to support a 90Hz refresh rate, which should provide smoother scrolling and animations than a conventional 60Hz screen.

The display is reportedly protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, adding an extra layer of protection against everyday scratches and minor impacts.

For watching videos, browsing the web and handling productivity tasks, the 10.6-inch size offers a larger workspace than a smartphone while remaining more compact than many 12- or 13-inch tablets.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 Powers the Tablet

At the heart of the HMD Slate Tab 5G is reportedly Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 mobile platform.

The chipset is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

This combination should provide enough performance for everyday tablet activities such as web browsing, video streaming, social media, office applications and multitasking.

The 8GB memory configuration is also useful for users who regularly switch between multiple applications.

However, the Slate Tab 5G is not expected to compete directly with tablets powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon platforms. Its hardware appears to target the mid-range segment instead.

5G Connectivity Is a Major Selling Point

As its name suggests, the HMD Slate Tab 5G is expected to support 5G mobile connectivity.

This could be one of the tablet’s most practical features for people who frequently work or travel away from reliable Wi-Fi networks.

Instead of depending entirely on a smartphone hotspot, users could potentially connect the tablet directly to a cellular network.

The tablet is also reportedly equipped with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, providing relatively modern wireless connectivity for compatible networks and accessories.

    9,250mAh Battery with 30W Charging

The HMD Slate Tab 5G is reportedly equipped with a large 9,250mAh battery.

A battery of this size should provide enough capacity for extended video playback, browsing and other everyday tablet tasks, although actual endurance will depend on factors such as screen brightness, refresh rate, 5G usage and application workload.

The tablet is also said to support 30W wired charging.

While 30W is not an unusually high charging speed for today’s smartphones, it is a useful feature for a large-capacity tablet because it can reduce the amount of time required to recharge the battery.

8MP Front Camera and 13MP Rear Camera

For photography and video calls, the leaked specification sheet reportedly lists an 8MP front-facing camera and a 13MP rear camera.

The front camera should be more relevant for video meetings and calls, while the rear camera can be used for scanning documents, taking quick photos and other basic tablet photography.

The camera hardware suggests that imaging is not the main focus of the Slate Tab 5G. Instead, HMD appears to be prioritizing connectivity, battery capacity and general tablet functionality.

    NFC and 3.5mm Headphone Jack

The HMD Slate Tab 5G is also reportedly equipped with NFC.

NFC can support convenient short-range communication with compatible accessories and devices, although the exact functions available on the tablet will depend on its software and regional configuration.

Another notable detail is the inclusion of a 3.5mm headphone jack.

As wired audio ports continue to disappear from many mobile devices, retaining a traditional headphone connection could be useful for users who already own wired headphones or want to avoid relying on Bluetooth audio.

    POGO Pins Could Enable Accessories

The leaked specifications also mention POGO expansion contacts.

These contacts can potentially be used for compatible accessories such as keyboards, docks or other tablet-specific peripherals.

Although the exact accessory ecosystem for the Slate Tab 5G has not yet been confirmed, the inclusion of POGO pins suggests that HMD may have plans for expanding the tablet beyond basic touchscreen use.

This could make the device more attractive to students and productivity-focused users who want to pair a tablet with a physical keyboard.

HMD Slate Tab 5G Specifications at a Glance

These specifications are based on the reported leak and should be treated as unconfirmed until HMD officially announces the tablet.

What Makes the HMD Slate Tab 5G Interesting?

The Slate Tab 5G appears to be aimed at a fairly practical segment of the tablet market.

Instead of relying on a flagship processor or an ultra-high-resolution display, HMD appears to be combining features that matter in everyday use: a 90Hz screen, 5G connectivity, a large battery, 8GB of RAM and expandable accessory support.

The 10.6-inch 2000 × 1200 display should provide enough space for entertainment and productivity, while the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 gives the tablet a modern mid-range performance platform.

The 5G modem could be particularly useful for people who travel frequently or need an always-connected tablet.

HMD Slate Tab 5G: Early Outlook

Based on the leaked specifications, the HMD Slate Tab 5G could occupy the middle of the Android tablet market.

Its combination of 5G, a 90Hz display, 9,250mAh battery, 8GB RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 storage and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 makes it a well-rounded configuration for everyday use.

The Lumia 2520-inspired Fabula design could also help the tablet stand out visually.

However, important details such as the official price, software version, availability and exact accessory support have yet to be confirmed.

For now, the HMD Slate Tab 5G should be considered a leaked product rather than an officially confirmed configuration. If these specifications prove accurate, the tablet could appeal to users looking for a mid-range Android tablet with 5G connectivity and a large battery without moving into the premium price segment.
