As from today, all Xiaomi mobiles that have MIUI based on Android 7.0, have the ability of an extra feature, Face ID. This feature that was first met on Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and iPhone X, now you can have it on your Xiaomi mobile, free! The update appeared today ith the update log of the latest dev rom From Xiaomi EU.
This is the update log that I saw this morning waiting to install the new dev rom in my Xiaomi Mi5S plus mobile. My Mi5S Plus has MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0, so I can use this feature according to the log. So after installing the new rom, the first thing I did was to check out this new feature. The feature can be found in:
Options -> Lock screen & password -> Manage face data. You will notice that this menu didn’t exist before.
Entering there you will be asked to confirm your pattern.
After confirming the pattern, you will enter a page, where you will be informed that Face ID is not the most secure way to protect your mobile and is better to use pattern or other ways. To be honest there are couple of cases on the internet saying exactly this thing!
Pressing Next, will activate the front camera of your mobile. So smile…you will get a selfie!
After been successfully set by the app, you are ready to use the new feature. You will see now that there is a new option if you want to activate.
Now close your mobile and try to see if it can recognize you. Me, at my Mi5S Plus the test was successful every time and it took to the mobile only 1 sec to activate the screen. Write us down what kind of mobile you have and if you managed to activate this new feature.
