    How Significant Background Checks Are For Companies?

    A personnel selection process, contrary to what many may think, does not end in the job interview after the psychological tests or other tests. Usually, after these initial evaluations, the company in charge of carrying out the selection process decides on a list of candidates who will be the ones that the final client ends up interviewing.

    One of the vital steps of the process is data verification where the recruiter collects information from different aspects of the life of the applicant, to corroborate that he has had the expected performance and is the ideal person we are looking for. 

    Background checks of employees are a great way to mitigate risk, reduce costs, and boost the overall performance of the organization along with its employees. It is critical that both parties (employees and employers) recognize the critical requirements, needs, quality, proficiency, and worth to be provided on any business project. 

    That said, the interests of both parties must be perfectly aligned if they are to go ahead with cooperation, earning mutual benefits. There are three major aspects of background checks namely:

    -Professional Aspect

    The verification is carried out by looking for work references from bosses, peers, subordinates, and clients that allow knowing the quality of the candidate’s work and contrasting information from different fronts.

    In this sense, it is important to know the information from the Human Resources area regarding working time, position, and reasons for leaving.

    -Social Aspect

    In the social sphere, these checks look for police, criminal, judicial and credit risk records, since this provides information on the behavior of a person in the different areas that demand an optimal style of conduct, in the sense of coexistence with society.

    -Academic Aspect

    Here references are sought that allow knowing if the person really carried out studies in the institution that declares and, if possible, the performance during their student stage. 

    Remember,

    Not all selection processes require all of these checks. 

    The need, depending on the nature of the position and the organization, is what determines what type of verifications are to be carried out.

    Background Verification Checks Done by Companies Details:

    -Whether the employee has manipulated their previous work data like forging job titles, filling employment gaps with fake dates, or even inventing employers.

    By running a full background check, a company can verify and validate whether an applicant is telling the truth or his resume contains falsehoods.

    -Whether the employee was involved in any criminal prosecution for fraudulent process or is clean in this aspect. 

    A background check ensures to detect of the demerits of a person before hiring him and avoids the occurrence of company loss at any point in time.

    -Whether the employee who is shortlisted is worth the time and efforts spent by recruiters while placing ads, sorting resumes and taking interviews.

    A recruitment process that has a background check as a mandatory stage, makes sure a company continues to maintain its recruitment budget, having selected the right applicant and eliminating the need for rework or repetition of the process. 

    Performing a background check on a specialized platform is a need and a demand too. Indeed, avoiding operational risks is essential in any company so that you can properly identify and deal with potential risks.

    A correct background check is a key factor in the recruitment process success because you will have certainty of not only the person with which you are going to work but also enhances the probability of the future prospects of employee retention and fraud prevention. 

    Is There Any Convenient Way for a Background Check?

    Currently, we all live in a digitized world where there is data that is of public interest and access; including background checks. 

    This is the reason why there are companies with digital platforms dedicated to validating records in just minutes, for example, the legal, criminal, and vehicle records of users, suppliers, or candidates for better decision-making. 

    The use of this type of technology guarantees safer and more informed hiring in less time, which includes a continuous query that will notify you of each change in the results of any of the searches you have made. 

    In addition, you will be able to analyze all the metrics and reports in one place, grouped by type, country, and average search speed.

    So, What Do You Think of a Background Check?

    Taking all of this into account, what do you think would happen if you hired an employee who has irrelevant documents, committed crimes, or is involved in any fraudulent activity? If they steal your data or cause loss to the organization, whose fault is it? 

    Yours, of course, for not doing a proper background check!

    Indeed, in this situation, you will be questioning the reputation of the brand, which has been continuously worked on since its creation. For this reason, its importance lies in the acquisition of products and services safely to avoid any type of heavy loss or unexpected service disruption.
