During the announcement of the Huawei Mate Xs that came out a few months ago. A Huawei executive spoke with the portal ‘TrustedReviews’, and told them that in the Chinese company he was thinking about doing a foldable phone that closed in clam plan, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
The Chinese tech giant ended up rejecting the idea for not offering as much space as they wanted. They do not refer to storage space, but rather that they are already in place, the more screen they give the user much better.
“If you deploy it and there is no more phone than before, why to make it foldable?” said Anson Zhang, director of the British subsidiary of Huawei. “If you create a folding phone it is to enlarge the user experience. Why do people want a mobile that folds? They want a big screen that can then get into your pocket, that’s the reason. ”
The company then opted for a folding device that expanded to a larger screen to give better experience. That eventually became the Mate X series. “You create a folding to have better vision, whether reading, watching videos, or multitasking, as Richard showed.” It refers to Richard Yu, the CEO of Huawei who presented the phone at the event.
The Z Flip is deployed to a size of 6.7 inches, on an FHD + screen of 2,636×1080 pixels. A fairly narrow panel with a 21.9: 9 aspect ratio. Meanwhile, the Mate Xs is somewhat shorter. But more than twice as wide, and is deployed to have an 8-inch screen (2,480×2,200).
And what about the crystal
As it seems that Huawei also explored the folding glass of the Galaxy Z Flip. Flexibility is a key fact in these folding devices, which is why the first generation of these came with plastic screens, which bend very well but are not as durable as glass. It is not uncommon that even pressing with the nail if you are not careful could leave a mark. That does not mean that the crystal is the panacea, since the same thing can happen, but not so easy.
