Huawei Kirin 970 SoC Performance Officially Releases as the Killer of Snapdragon 835

Last night, Yu Chengdong has released its latest flagship SoC at IFA 2017 in Berlin, Germany, Kirin 970, which is the first AI processor, 4.5G LTE, Cat.18,1.2Gbps, it is first to use Mali-G72 GPU, 10nm process. As current third mobile SoC, compared with Snapdragon 835 and Samsung Exynos 8895, how is this Kirin 970 processor?

Check Kirin 970 vs Kirin 960 processor data released by Huawei, its CPU energy efficiency improves 20%, GPU performance improves 20%, its power consumption has reduced 50%, so it has improved 140% energy efficiency.

In official PPT, they compare their image recognition speed, Kirin 970 processor is up to 2005 images per minute, iPhone 7 Plus has got 487 images per minute, and Samsung Galaxy S8 can reach 95 images per minute.

Of course, thanks to NPU AI, Huawei has invested over 5,000 software engineers to optimize its algorithm and experience. To be exact, Huawei claims, compared with Four Cortex-A73 core, with same AI processor to run tasks, new bit will have about 50 times efficiency and 25 times performance advantage.

We can see in CPU, because the big architecture doesn’t change, the process improves, the power consumption has been reduced and uses a new GPU.
