Last year, Apple had launched its tenth anniversary iPhone as iPhone X (pronounced as ten). Recent leaks have claimed that next year Samsung’s flagship phones will carry Galaxy X moniker. Fresh information suggests that even Huawei will be adopting a similar strategy as it has trademarked the Mate X moniker with European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
Mate 10 powered by Kirin 970 that features a dedicated chip for handling AI tasks was launched last year. It seems that the Mate X could be a very advanced Huawei flagship. There is a possibility that the company might have simply trademarked the name to prevent other businesses from using the same name. The trademark was filed by the U.K wing of Huawei and it is categorized as mobile phones and smartphones.
Huawei has already released a device that has a similar name. This device is the Matebook X that was launched last year. It is a notebook driven by Intel Core i5 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, storage options starting from 256 GB of SSD and Windows 10. Hence, it appears that the company may probably launch the Mate X smartphone this year or may be next year. If the smartphone really exists, soon many things about it will surface through the rumor mill.
