Malaysia’s Health Ministry plans to introduce a new bill to Parliament in May to control smoking products, particularly nicotine-containing e-cigarettes. Malaysia’s Health Minister Zaariha said in a recent article that the new law aims to ensure full control of preparations used in e-cigarettes, namely liquids and gels containing nicotine. “The Health Ministry has convened a meeting with all relevant parties including Members of Parliament, ngos, professional bodies and total smoking cessation organizations to discuss the regulations for the enactment of the new bill,” said Zaaliha. In addition, Zaaliha said that awareness of the health risks of smoking among young people will be raised through enhanced awareness-raising activities, including cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, the Youth Council and relevant ngos.
