MediaTek, as expected, has unveiled Dimensity 720. Aimed at more affordable middle-class phones, MediaTek Dimensity 720 is supported by 5G technology. In a press release received by Sophisticated, the manufacturer explained that Dimensity 720 sets a new standard that produces 5G experience and technology in middle-class devices.
The 5G modem that is integrated in it is claimed to be the most power-efficient thanks to the presence of MediaTek 5G UltraSave technology. This chipset supports standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) sub-6GHz networks. There are also various connectivity technologies including two operator aggregations (2CC CA), Voice over New Radio (VoNR), and a 5G / 4G DSDS dual SIM.
“This chip is very power efficient, has outstanding performance and high-tech display and imaging technologies. All of this will help smartphone makers develop different 5G devices for consumers around the world, “said Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager, Wireless Communications Business Unit, MediaTek.
A little discussing the specifications, Dimensity 720 is a 7nm chipset fabricated with an octa-core CPU consisting of 2x Cortex-A76 and 6x Cortex-A55.
The GPU used is Mali-G57 MC3. In addition, Dimensity 720 also supports screens with high frame rates of 90Hz. The promised video streaming capability is better thanks to the MiraVision HDR10 + technology which supports various video features including dynamic range remapping.
For business cameras, Dimensity 720 is compatible with sensors up to a resolution of 64MP (single-camera) or dual cameras 20MP + 16MP. There is also Voice Wakeup (VoW) support to minimize power consumption from the always-on voice assistant.
Unfortunately, there is no official schedule when the MediaTek Dimensity 720 chipset will be available on the market. The leak, the first smartphone equipped with the brand-new chipset will launch in the next few months.
