A new Microsoft Surface-branded product could hit the market soon. In addition to the appearance of Surface Duo 2 in Geekbench yesterday, another benchmark test appeared, presumably for the new Surface Go 3. before they reach the public.
According to the Geekbench database, two variants were tested on the platform — one model with Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y and 4GB of RAM and another with Intel Core i3-10100Y and 8GB of RAM.
The Pentium Gold 6500Y and i3-10100Y processors belong to Intel’s 10th generation, such that they may enter the discontinuation process in the not too distant future, but still represent a significant advance compared to the 8th generation chips of previous models with their performance improved and energy efficiency.
According to data from Geekbench, the upgrade should bring significant improvements in terms of overall performance on Microsoft Surface Go 3, especially on the model equipped with Pentium Gold 6500Y.
The so-called model with the most entry-level chip scored 3197 points in single-core testing and 5643 in multi-core, offering gains of 45% compared to Surface Go 2’s single-core score. For the model with Intel Core i3-10100Y, there is a score of 4359 in single-core and 7643 in multi-core.
The Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y is a dual-core with a base clock of 1.1 GHz and can reach up to 3.4 GHz in optimized mode. The most advanced platform is quad-core and has a base clock of 1.3 GHz and can reach 3.9 GHz. Both have the capacity of 4MB in cache and belong to the low-power Y series.
More details about the Microsoft Surface Go 3 models have not yet been revealed, such as display size and resolution, general dimensions, among other information. There is also no concrete expectation for the release date of the device, but it is likely to happen in the coming months to coincide with back-to-school in the US and Europe.
