Not Sure How To Sell Your Old Phone? Here’s What You Should Know

What do you do with your old phone when you upgrade your phone? If you’re like most people, you probably just store it in a drawer or cabinet somewhere, never to be used again. But there’s no need to let that old phone go to waste-there are plenty of ways to sell it and get some extra cash in the process. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the best methods for selling an old phone, as well as some tips for getting the most money for it. We’ll also cover how to prepare your phone for sale and what to expect from the selling process. So if you’re ready to sell your old phone, keep reading for some essential information.

Find The Right Place To Sell

When it comes time to sell your old phone, you have a few different options as to where you can sell it. You can try selling it online, or to a phone retailer or recycler. Each of these options has its benefits and drawbacks, so it’s important to do your research before deciding which option is best for you.

    Selling Online

One of the most popular methods for selling an old phone is through an online auction site or marketplace. This option is great because it gives you the ability to reach a large number of potential buyers. These sites allow you to list your phone for sale at no cost, and they provide a platform for buyers from all over the world to find your listing. This can be a great way to get rid of your old phone quickly and easily, and you may be able to get more money for it than you would through other methods.

Depending on the type and condition of your phone, you could potentially make hundreds of dollars by selling it online, especially if you are selling an iPhone. And while most people tend to think that one of the best places to sell an iPhone is eBay, several other online marketplaces will give you just as good, if not better results. So before you list your phone on eBay, make sure you do a  little research on some of the other options that are available to you.

    Selling In Person

Another option for selling your old phone is through a phone retailer or carrier store. Many of these stores have programs where they will buy back phones from customers who are upgrading to a new phone. This can be a great way to get rid of your old phone, and you may even be able to get a discount on your new phone purchase if you go this route.

The downside to selling your old phone through a retailer is that you will likely only get a fraction of what the phone is worth. For example, if you have an iPhone 10 that is in good condition you might only get $300-$400 for it through a phone retailer even though it’s worth much more than that on the open market. So if you’re looking to get the most money possible for your old phone, selling online is probably your best bet.

    Research Phone Prices

Before listing your phone for sale, it’s important to do some research and find out how much it’s worth. The best way to do this is by searching for your phone model on an online marketplace or auction site. Look at similar listings and see how much they are selling for. You can also check sites like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace to get an idea of how much people in your area are willing to pay for a used phone.

It’s also important to keep in mind that the price you’re able to get for your old phone will depend on its condition. If your phone is in good condition, you’ll be able to get more money for it than if it’s damaged or has a cracked screen. And if you have any accessories or special features like a case or screen protector, you should factor those into the price as well. Most people are willing to pay more for an iPhone that comes with a case or screen protector because they know they’ll have to buy those things separately. And if you have a working pair of  Apple AirPods you don’t use, those can also add quite a bit of value to your phone.

    Gather Your Phone’s Important Info

Once you’ve decided to sell your old phone, there are a few things you need to do to prepare it for sale. First, you need to gather all of the important information about your phone. This includes the make and model, storage capacity, color, and any special features or accessories it has. You’ll also want to take some pictures of your phone so potential buyers can see what it looks like.

If you’re selling an iPhone, you’ll also need to find your IMEI number. This is a unique code that is assigned to every iPhone and is used to identify it on cellular networks. You can usually find your IMEI number by going into the Settings app and selecting “General” followed by “About.” Scroll down until you see the IMEI number listed. You’ll need to provide this number to potential buyers so they can check that the phone isn’t blacklisted or reported lost or stolen.  Android users will need to find their MEID number, which is similar to an IMEI number. This can usually be found in the Settings app under “About Phone” or “Device Information.”

    Back-Up Your Data

Once you have all the important information about your phone, the next step is to back up your data. This includes any photos, videos, music, or other files you have stored on your device. If you don’t back up your data before selling your phone, there’s a chance you could lose it forever. There are a few different ways to back up your data, but the most common is by using iCloud or iTunes.

If you’re using an iPhone, open the Settings app and select “iCloud.” Then tap “Backup” and make sure the “iCloud Backup” toggle is turned on. Once that’s done, connect your iPhone to a power source and Wi-Fi network and wait for the backup to complete. If you’re using an Android phone, open the Settings app and select “Backup & Reset.” Then tap “Back up my data” and make sure the “Back up to Google Drive” toggle is turned on. Once that’s done, connect your phone to a power source and Wi-Fi network and wait for the backup to complete.

    Factory Reset Your Phone

The next step is to factory reset your phone. This will delete all of the data on your device, so you must have backed up everything you want to keep before doing this. To factory reset an iPhone, open the Settings app and select “General.” Then scroll down and tap “Reset.” Tap “Erase All Content and Settings” and enter your passcode. Then tap “Erase iPhone” to confirm.

To factory reset an Android phone, open the Settings app and select “System.” Then tap “Advanced” and select “Reset options.” Tap “Erase all data (factory reset)” and then select “Reset Phone.” If you’re prompted for a passcode, enter it and then tap “Erase everything.”

Now that your phone is backed up and reset, it’s ready to be sold.

As you can see, you can easily get a good deal on your old phone if you know what you’re doing. Just make sure to do your research, take good pictures, and be honest about the condition of your device. With a little effort, you should be able to sell your old phone quickly and hassle-free.
