RedMagic 12 Pro Series Rumored for October Debut With Next-Gen Snapdragon Chip

The next generation of RedMagic gaming phones could arrive sooner than expected. A new leak claims RedMagic 12 Pro series is scheduled to launch in October and may be one of the first smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro platform.

The information comes from Chinese tipster WHYLAB, who says the RedMagic 12 Pro lineup is currently expected to make its debut in October.

The rumor also lines up with recent comments from Jiang Chao, general manager of RedMagic gaming phones. When asked why there had been little information about the RedMagic 12 series, Jiang reportedly confirmed that a new model is coming but said the company has not yet entered its official pre-launch phase.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro Could Be the Main Attraction

Qualcomm is expected to unveil its next-generation flagship mobile chips during the Snapdragon Summit from September 23 to 25.

The new family is rumored to include two versions: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

According to the leak, the Pro model could feature Qualcomm’s third-generation Oryon CPU architecture with an eight-core 2+3+3 configuration and 16MB of shared L2 cache.

The performance-focused core is reportedly capable of approaching 5GHz, while graphics duties could be handled by a new Adreno 850 GPU.

If these specifications prove accurate, the chipset could deliver a substantial performance boost for demanding applications and high-end mobile gaming. However, Qualcomm has yet to officially confirm these details.

RedMagic May Keep Its Punch-Hole-Free Display

The RedMagic 12 series is also expected to continue the brand’s distinctive true full-screen design.

Rather than using a punch-hole camera, the upcoming phones are rumored to retain an under-display front camera. This would allow the display to remain free of visible cutouts, which is particularly appealing for gamers who want an uninterrupted view while playing.

RedMagic could reportedly improve the underlying display technology as well, potentially using a new generation of under-display materials to enhance image quality without sacrificing the full-screen appearance.

AI Features Could Get a Major Upgrade

AI is expected to become another part of the RedMagic 12 experience.

The company’s virtual gaming assistant, MORA, could receive new capabilities alongside the phone’s broader AI features. The upgraded assistant is reportedly being developed for applications such as gaming assistance, interaction, and other intelligent functions.

Details remain scarce, so it is unclear how extensively these AI features will be integrated into everyday use or gameplay.

Liquid and Active Air Cooling Could Work Together

Thermal management is especially important for a gaming phone equipped with a next-generation flagship processor.

To address this, the RedMagic 12 series is rumored to adopt a combined liquid-and-air cooling system. The approach would pair liquid cooling with active airflow to move heat away from the internal components more effectively.

The main objective is to keep temperatures under control during extended gaming sessions and reduce performance throttling caused by excessive heat.

This could prove particularly valuable if the RedMagic 12 Pro does indeed use a chipset with a high-performance core approaching 5GHz.

A Strong Focus on Sustained Gaming Performance

Taken together, the rumored specifications suggest that RedMagic is continuing to focus heavily on sustained gaming performance rather than simply chasing headline benchmark numbers.

The combination of a next-generation Snapdragon platform, a full-screen display, upgraded AI functions, and an enhanced cooling system could make the RedMagic 12 Pro an interesting contender in the next wave of flagship gaming smartphones.

For now, though, the October launch date, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro configuration, and other hardware details remain unconfirmed. RedMagic has indicated that a new generation is coming, but the company has not yet formally announced the RedMagic 12 Pro series.

With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit reportedly scheduled for late September, more information could emerge as the event approaches.
