REDMI Turbo 4 Pro: The Mid-Ranger That Feels Like a Flagship

Habib QaziBy Habib QaziApril 25, 2025
Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

Meet the REDMI Turbo 4 Pro—the very first “Pro” model in the Turbo family, engineered to deliver a true quasi-flagship experience without breaking the bank. Its mission? To land three knockout blows on every other 2.5 K-class contender.

At its hear,t you’ll find Qualcomm’s all-new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, featuring an all-big-core CPU and the Adreno 825 GPU borrowed straight from the top-tier Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition—earning it the nickname “Little Supreme.” Compared to its predecessor, you get meaningful gains in CPU speed, graphics power and energy efficiency. Paired with Xiaomi’s largest-ever “ice cooling” system and a beast-mode gaming engine, you can steamroll through even the most demanding mobile titles without a hitch.

The Turbo 4 Pro ditches the old plastic frame for a full-metal chassis and glass back, a rarity at this price point. Four razor-thin edges meet a smoothly curved “R-angle” profile for a refined, high-end feel—yet despite packing a massive 7,550 mAh battery, it’s 0.08 mm slimmer than the regular Turbo 4.

Speaking of that battery, it’s the largest ever in a REDMI phone, jumping up by 1,000 mAh to hit 7,550 mAh. Thanks to its industry-leading energy density of 831 Wh/L (with 10 % silicon content), light to moderate users can easily stretch it to two full days on a single charge.

Goodbye, 6.67-inch screens—hello to a first-ever 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED panel in the Turbo series. It borrows the same M9 luminescent material found in Xiaomi’s flagships for lower power draw and longer lifespan, plus ultra-smooth 3,840 Hz PWM dimming and Xiaomi’s “Qingshan” eye-care tech to keep your eyes fresh during late-night gaming or binge-watching.

Curious how all these specs translate into real-world use? Forget dry spec sheets—we’ve put the Turbo 4 Pro through its paces with hands-on tests so you can see exactly what this quasi-flagship delivers.

    Design and Screen

The REDMI Turbo 4 Pro comes in three sleek finishes—black, white, and green—and our review unit is the understated black. Compared to its predecessor, the Turbo 4, this model’s AG glass has been polished to feel noticeably smoother under your fingertips: surface roughness drops from 500–1000 nm down to 300–700 nm, boosting tactile finesse by about 30%.

Flip it over and you’ll notice the back glass is slightly more “hazy” (up 10%), giving it a matte finish that’s both elegant and practical, keeping fingerprints at bay.

On the camera island, REDMI sticks with its signature turbine double-ring motif. Two lenses sit side by side on the left, while to their right, you’ll find the flash, an ambient light sensor, and an infrared remote sensor. Surrounding this module is the family-style dual-ring light strip, which you can customize with your favorite colors and use as an eye-catching notification light—flashing for calls, syncing to your music, showing charging status, and more.

Up front is a spacious 6.82-inch OLED display that really draws you in—its expansive R-corner redesign increases the corner radius to 12.4 mm, softening the phone’s silhouette and making it feel wonderfully balanced in your hand. And thanks to perfectly matched curves on the inner and outer corners, you’ll never see awkward “cat ears” on your screen edges—everything flows smoothly whether you’re binge-watching or gaming.

Finishing off the clean design, the top edge of the phone is seamless with no cutouts, while the bottom houses a versatile Type-C port (also handling headphones), speaker grilles, a microphone, and the SIM tray. On the right side, you’ll find the easily reachable power button and volume rocker—everything you need, exactly where you expect it.

    Hardware and Performance

Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, launched in early April, strikes an impressive balance between power and efficiency. Built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 4nm process, it delivers performance on par with last year’s third‑generation Snapdragon 8, while sipping about 17.5% less power when running demanding games.

Instead of mixing big and small cores, Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 goes all-in on its “1+7” big‑core layout:

    • 1 × 3.21 GHz X4 “super” core for peak tasks
    • 3 × 3.01 GHz A720 “large” cores
    • 2 × 2.80 GHz A720 “large” cores
    • 2 × 2.02 GHz A720 “large” cores

By swapping out the less efficient small cores for mid‑efficiency A720s and dialing their clock speeds for optimal energy grading, Qualcomm manages to reduce scheduling delays and cut down on the heat and drain that come from running big cores flat‑out.

    Adreno 825

On the graphics side, you get an Adreno 825 GPU—essentially the same generation found in the top‑tier Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition. Clocked up to 1.15 GHz and armed with 12 MB of dedicated graphics memory, it boasts up to 49% better performance than its predecessor, making it the biggest leap in Snapdragon 8s history.

Beyond raw speed, the Adreno 825 is tuned for efficiency, keeping battery drain and device temperatures in check even during marathon gaming sessions.

Real‑World Benchmarks (on REDMI Turbo 4 Pro)

To see how it performs in daily life, we ran both lab‑style benchmarks and heavy game tests with the Turbo 4 Pro’s “Performance Mode” on and memory expansion off.

    AnTuTu Comprehensive Score

    • 2,013,800 total points: up 26.3% vs. Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and 14.2% vs. Dimensity 8400‑Ultra
    • CPU: 452,400 points (+16.4% year‑over‑year)
    • GPU: 792,900 points (+22.7% year‑over‑year)

These numbers bring Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 right up to the level of last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8.

    Geekbench 6

    • Single‑core: 2,127 points (+29.5% vs. Gen 3)
    • Multi‑core: 6,630 points (+4.4% vs. Gen 3; –6.3% vs. Snapdragon 8 Gen 3)

Here, the new all‑big‑core design really shines in multi‑threaded tasks, improving multi‑core performance by 23.4% over the previous generation.

    Gaming Tests

We took three popular titles—Honor of Kings, Peace Elite, and Genshin Impact—and measured frame rates, power draw, and device temperature in a 24 °C room.

    1. Honor of Kings (extreme visuals, 5v5 battle)

    • Avg. frame rate: 119.4 FPS (±0.6)
    • Power: 3.87 W (≈30.9 FPS/W)
    • Max surface temp: 36.7 °C
    1. Peace Elite (smooth + 90 FPS mode)

    • Avg. frame rate: 89.8 FPS
    • Power: 4.00 W (≈22.5 FPS/W)
    • Max surface temp: 37.7 °C
    1. Genshin Impact (max settings, 15 min run)

    • Locked 60 FPS (fluctuation ±0.2)
    • Power: 4.76 W (–17.5% vs. Gen 3)
    • Energy efficiency: 12.6 FPS/W (+22.6% year‑over‑year)
    • Max surface temp: 38.8 °C (≈4.5 °C cooler than Gen 3)

The REDMI Turbo 4 Pro’s massive 6000 mm² dual‑loop liquid cooling system, combined with graphite heat spreaders and AI‑driven thermal management, keeps temperatures in check even under marathon gameplay.

    Battery

Redmi really went all-in on the Turbo 4 Pro’s battery. Last year’s Turbo 4 already surprised us with a hefty 6,550 mAh cell thanks to Xiaomi’s Jinshajiang battery tech. This time around, Redmi has pushed things even further, packing a massive 7,550 mAh battery—the biggest ever in a Xiaomi phone, and a full 1,000 mAh jump over its predecessor.

Behind that extra capacity is some next-level chemistry: a silicon-carbon composite anode (with the industry’s highest 10 % silicon content), a high-voltage system, and third-generation electrode tech. All told, the Turbo 4 Pro’s battery delivers an impressive energy density of 831 Wh/L.

Of course, a giant battery is only half the story—you also need to fill it up quickly. Redmi tackled this by installing three specialized chips: the Pengpai P2 for fast charging, Xiaomi’s own G1 battery management chip, and a supercharging controller. The result? Even with 7,550 mAh on board, you still get 90 W wired charging, and the setup is rated to maintain healthy capacity for up to four years (it’s already earned Nantong’s long-life battery certification). That’s a serious advantage in the sub-¥2,000 performance phone segment.

    Real-world Charging
With the screen off and fast-charge mode enabled, we watched the Turbo 4 Pro jump from 1 % to:

    • 26 % in just 10 minutes

    • 45 % in 20 minutes

    • 64 % in 30 minutes

It hit 100 % in about 40 minutes flat. For such a colossal cell, that’s remarkably swift.

    Battery Life

To see how long you can go between charges, we ran Redmi’s standard “Battery Dog” test, which simulates real-life tasks like high-load CPU work, AI features, photo browsing, video playback, and web surfing—all at a consistent 50 % screen brightness and 30 % volume.

The Turbo 4 Pro dropped from 100 % to 20 % in 11 hours, 59 minutes, and 10 seconds—roughly two hours longer than the last Turbo 4. Extrapolating to a full 0–100 % cycle, you’re looking at nearly 15 hours of continuous use, making this the longest-lasting Redmi phone to date.

Bottom line: if you’ve got “battery anxiety,” the Turbo 4 Pro is engineered to put your mind at ease—enough juice for a day and a half of heavy use, plus super-fast top-ups when you need them.

    Cameras

The REDMI Turbo 4 Pro packs a versatile dual-camera setup on its back:

    1. 50 MP Main Camera

      • Sensor: Sony LYT600, 1/1.95″ photosensitive unit

      • Features: OIS optical image stabilization, same lens specs as the last-gen Turbo 4

      Daylight & Backlit Performance:

      • In bright light, colors look natural and true to life—reds pop without feeling overdone.

      • In challenging backlit scenes, shots can skew a touch dark, but overall clarity and color accuracy remain impressive.

      • For everyday snapshots and scenery, this sensor size delivers more than enough detail and punch.

      Night & Low-Light Performance:

      • Handles both highlights and shadows gracefully, preserving fine texture with minimal noise.

      • Flare can creep in if you frame a very strong light source (like a street lamp) directly, so for clean nightscapes, try to keep intense lights just outside the main subject.

    2. 8 MP Ultra-Wide-Angle Lens

      • Field of view: 120°

      • Built-in distortion correction keeps straight lines… well, straight.

In daily use, this lens captures sweeping vistas or tight interiors with plenty of crisp detail—just avoid pushing the digital zoom too far, and you’ll get beautifully expansive shots every time.

    Verdict

The REDMI Turbo 4 Pro feels virtually flawless. Its sturdy metal frame and huge 6.83-inch display are paired with a mammoth 7,550 mAh battery and the blistering power of Qualcomm’s first fourth-gen Snapdragon 8s. You also get full-level waterproofing (IP66/IP68/IP69) and rock-solid network reception, even in fringe areas.

In real-world gaming, we put it through a 15-minute “Genshin Impact” run in Xu Li City at max settings—and it never dipped below 60 FPS. That’s an 85.7 % boost in frame-rate stability over last year’s Turbo 4, totally busting the myth that mid-range phones must compromise on performance.

Battery life is equally impressive: it took just under 12 hours to drop from 100 % to 20 %, about two hours longer than the Turbo 4. Fully charged, you’re looking at nearly 15 hours of heavy use, or up to two days if you’re more moderate.

All told, the Turbo 4 Pro packs flagship-grade speed, a vivid, edge-to-edge screen, and marathon-level endurance into a mid-range price. Redmi isn’t merely swapping specs—it’s redefining what “Pro” means by smoothing out every pain point and putting your experience first.
