Sabrent, a company known for its remarkable innovations, has achieved numerous pioneering milestones in its relatively brief yet dynamic journey. These accomplishments include introducing the world’s first 8TB SSD, the inaugural 4 TB Gen4 SSD, and the groundbreaking Gen4 SSD with a capacity of up to 8 TB. As an unmistakable testament to its expanding presence in the realm of devices capable of utilizing SDXC-type memory cards, Sabrent has ventured into the field of memory cards.
Presently, Sabrent has provided a number of storage options for SD memory cards for both mobile phones and photographic cameras, starting with economical options such as the V30 and the mid-range V60, up to the high-end V90, which we will start testing first, passing through the other options, and we will review in this review a memory card for photographic cameras of the SDXC type. It is called the Sabrent Rocket V90 256GB, of which there are 4 different spaces, starting from 64 GB to 512 GB. My experience took place on a 256 GB storage unit, which comes at a price of $250, and a reading speed of up to 285 MB and writing of 250 MB per second for use with recording content in large spaces, up to 8K.
Besides the SD card, Sabrent was kind enough to send me its recently launched dual-slot card reader for my tests. This reader supports SD and microSD cards and, thanks to the USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C connector, can fully utilize the speeds that the Rocket V90 supports. Further, we will talk about the performance of this memory card and card reader through our extensive experience in the following lines.

The storage memory comes in a small black box. In the front, we find the company logo at the top and in the middle of a picture of the memory card and its model.
In the back, we also find the company logo, the unit model and its serial number, and an indication that it was developed in the USA and made in Taiwan.
On the right side is the company logo and storage space.
On the left side, there is the memory model and a special space for it.
Before opening the box, we find the Sabrent logo at the top.
Inside the cardboard box, there is a black metal box with a sticker bearing an image of the memory and on the back the logo of the company and model of the unit.
Inside the box rests the memory unit with a cloth cover in the front and back to protect and stabilize the memory.
The company provides for purchase separately a unit for reading SD and MicroSD memory cards with a USB Type-C interface at a price of $35.
The unit comes in a black cardboard box with the company logo, the model of the reading unit, and its features. On the back there is an indication of the unit’s features and operating requirements and that it was made in China.
On both sides of the box are the unit model, company logo, and serial number.
The memory reading unit rests inside the box with a plastic cover on the USB Type-C. Besides, there is a warranty card and the need to register the unit to extend the warranty up to two years.
The unit and the technologies it offers
The unit comes with the standard dimensions for SD memory cards, with a length of 32 mm, a width of 23.88 mm, and a thickness of 2 mm, which are standard dimensions for memory cards for photographic cameras, with a plastic body that can withstand temperatures from -25 to 85 degrees Celsius. The card depends on operating chips from Toshiba and a PS8601 controller, and the total weight of the unit Storage reaches 2.835 grams.
The memory card provides good space for all uses, starting from simple uses for shooting photos with an area of 64 GB and even uses that include creating content, with an area of 512 GB. The memory mainly supports devices that operate on modern systems to provide the best performance and take advantage of the speed of the card and comes with the exFAT system with areas of 64 GB and up. 512GB, such as DSLR and Mirrorless cameras, as well as small mobile cameras that offer 4K, 6K, and 8K imaging capabilities.
There are different levels of protection that make the memory unit strong and withstand vibration, and water.
The read and write speed for the 256 GB version reaches 280 MB, read and write speed reaches 250 MB, becoming in the Class 10 UHS-II speed category, based on the TLC Flash chip, model BICS5, with 112 layers. There is a button on the memory card to close writing to it when needed.
When there is a need to transfer data from the memory unit and there is a need for a high speed of data transfer instead of the limited speeds of the camera interface, most of which rely on USB 2.0, there is a unit for reading storage memories provided by the company called the Sabrent USB Type-C Card Reader to support reading two memories at the same time, even the UHS interface. II and MicroSDXC SD 4.0 for reading speeds of up to 312MBps, with speeds divided between the two ports depending on usage.
The unit is connected to a USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C port with a speed of 5Gbps, a length of 15.24 cm, and there is no need to define anything. It works as soon as it is connected to any device.

We used the card at the beginning of use with a photographic camera, and we did not find any problem with using the card for long periods or a decrease in the shooting speed while recording content in a large space and then installing the memory card on the laptop, especially with shooting 2K RAW videos on the Canon camera used for continuous shooting with degrees. The temperature did not exceed 30 degrees in a photography room with a temperature of 23 degrees.
On the other hand, we’ve brought forth a fresh approach to evaluating portable storage units and memory cards. Our method relies on just two benchmarks to provide a precise assessment of the performance of these storage devices. We’ve concentrated our testing efforts on USB sticks, SSDs, external HDDs, and memory cards. To kick things off, we started by examining the reading and writing speeds of the memory cards using a Sabrent memory card reader in conjunction with the widely recognized CrystalDiskMark benchmark.

The Blackmagic Disk Speed Test is a handy tool to gauge how fast storage devices like hard drives or SSDs can read and write data. In this instance, we put it to the test with the Sabrent Rocket V90 storage device. The outcomes were quite impressive, showing a reading speed of 223 MB/s and a writing speed of 180 MB/s. These numbers suggest that the Rocket V90 performs admirably when it comes to moving data to and from the storage device.
Having a faster read speed can really speed up how quickly you can get to your stored data, and this can be super important in certain situations, like when you’re doing video editing and you need to access and work with large files fast. On the flip side, having a faster write speed can mean quicker data transfer rates, which comes in handy when you’re trying to back up a ton of data.
The SABRENT USB Type-C SD/MicroSD UHS-II Card reader delivers some really impressive transfer speeds! It’s able to match the theoretical rates of the UHS-II card format. When we put it to the test, the results were truly outstanding! We popped in a Sabrent UHS-II card and it achieved a remarkable read speed of 264MB/s and a write speed of 266MB/s. This is a pretty impressive result, and in fact, it’s the fastest we’ve ever seen from an external SD card reader! It even edges out the built-in reader on the MacBook Pro, albeit by a small margin.
The Type-C connection is really reliable too. I mean, it’s pretty impressive that it only took nine minutes to copy 114GB of data from the internal hard drive. This card reader is way faster than other SD card readers I’ve used, and it really lets you make the most of your cards and devices.
