Igeekphone, March 4 news, science and technology media Android Authority yesterday (March 3) published a blog post, reported that Samsung in the 2025 World Mobile Communication Congress (MWC), demonstrated the Asymmetric Flip three-fold mobile phone and folding game console.
Asymmetric Flip: Double-hinged folding phone
The Asymmetric Flip is a bi-directional inward folding flip phone that is unique in that the two hinges are located at different locations on the top and bottom of the phone. This design allows a small part of the screen to remain exposed when the phone is folded.
Since the device does not have an external screen, this exposed part may be able to perform the Always-on Display function, however, whether this design is better than the existing Galaxy Z Flip series is still questionable.
Foldable game consoles: balancing portability with performance
The other device is a foldable gaming console that resembles the Nintendo Switch in appearance, but with the addition of a hinge design in the middle that allows it to fold into a more portable size. The device is fitted with a rocker on both sides that fits perfectly into the circular D-pad groove when closed.
While the concept is appealing, the device’s screen creases are noticeable and can affect the gaming experience. In addition, increasing the thickness of the device to improve ergonomics and battery capacity is also the direction of future improvements.
