According to Business Korea, Samsung is considering increasing investment in India by setting up a new manufacturing facility for its next generation of foldable phones. Reports suggest Samsung will manufacture and assemble the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in India.
Igeekphone is unclear whether the Indian-assembled Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be exported internationally, but IT Home has learned from the report that the outlet believes it may follow the same strategy as the Galaxy S23 series, which is to manufacture locally and sell locally.
Either way, Samsung seems to want to diversify its supply chain for foldable phones. Although India does not have a huge semiconductor market at the moment, its future growth potential is huge, and Samsung is bullish in India.
