Snapdragon 675 Vs Snapdragon 712 Comparison Review – Which One Is Better

For small partners who are concerned about Android mid-range Smartphones, the Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 712 are undoubtedly the most noteworthy at the moment. These 2 processors can be regarded as an upgraded version of the classic Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 710 of 2018. Then, as the 2 popular new mid-end SoC of 2019 in the market, what is the difference between the Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 712, and how big is the gap in these processors? Today we came to compare the difference between Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 712 to get a comprehensive understanding.

    First, the parameter comparison analysis

As the two new mid-range chips of Qualcomm this year, due to the recent launch, there are not many related models on the market, but there will be a large number of new Smartphones listed. Below, first through the comparative analysis of the parameters of Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 712, to understand the technical differences between these two chipsets.

    Technical specification comparison

From the comparison of Smartphones processor parameters, as the same mid-end chip, the difference in technical specs is not obvious. In addition to the architecture, process, CPU frequency, GPU, and baseband version, others such as memory specifications and storage. Specifications, fast charge support, AI support, DSP, ISP are almost identical.

Relatively speaking, the Snapdragon 675 is mainly a new generation of architectural advantages, while the Snapdragon 712 has more advantages in terms of process, GPU and baseband. As for the CPU parts, there are different advantages.

On the whole, Snapdragon 712 has more advantages than Snapdragon 675, which also meets the naming difference between the two. In short, the performance is roughly related to the basics of the Snapdragon 675, Snapdragon 712 by parameter comparison.

Below we mainly analyze and contrast from the parameters with different parameters, in addition to the use of the Antutu points as a reference, so that everyone can more comprehensive understanding of the specific gap between Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 712.

    The architecture is different

As we all know, the impact of architecture on CPU performance is high, and new architectures often lead to more efficient performance experiences. As the Soc of this year, the Snapdragon 675 is equipped with the Kryo 460 4th-generation architecture of the same generation as the 355 flagship product of the Snapdragon 855. The Snapdragon 712 is still the 3rd gen architecture of the Kryo 360, just like the previous Snapdragon 710. In terms of the advanced level of architecture, the Snapdragon 675 is actually more advantageous than the Snapdragon 712.

The advantage of the Snapdragon 675 architecture is mainly reflected in the CPU. Let’s take a look at the comparison of CPU performance.

    The CPU is different

The Snapdragon 675 benefits from the latest 4th-generation architecture, equipped with a new gen of A76 large core, clocked at 2.0Ghz. The Snapdragon 712 is still the previous generation A75 large core, but the 2.3Ghz frequency is significantly higher, compared to the Snapdragon 710 frequency increased by 0.1Ghz. In terms of small core, there is no difference between Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 712, both of which are 1.7Ghz dual-core A55.

From the CPU comparison point of view, the Snapdragon 675 is mainly new gen of large core advantages, while the Snapdragon 712 has a dominant frequency advantage. Both can be said to have their own merits. It is difficult to directly compare the parameters to see who is strong.

    The GPU is different

GPU is also the core of graphics which can be understood as a Smartphone graphics card, it is related to the game performance experience, is one of the many parameters of the game party as a parameter. In general, the higher the GPU specification, the better the game performance.

From the GPU specification comparison, the Snapdragon 712 is built with Adreno 616, while the Snapdragon 675 has Adreno 612. Qualcomm processor GPU, generally by the number of the number in the name, you can distinguish the performance strength, the approximate relationship is Adreno 616 and Adreno 612 in simple terms, is the Snapdragon 712 graphics performance is stronger.

    The baseband is different

The Smartphone baseband mainly determines the speed of the mobile network. The higher the baseband version, the faster the theoretically supported cellular Internet access speed. Both basebands support full Netcom, 4G+ network, but do not support the 5G network.

    Cellular network speed

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 integrates the LTE Cat.12 baseband version with a theoretical Internet speed range of 150Mbps to 600Mbps. The Snapdragon 712 is integrated the LTE Cat.15 baseband version. The theoretical Internet speed range is 150Mbps~800Mbps. The difference between these two is mainly the highest supported network speed. LTE Cat.15 can support higher speed LTE networks.

    Different manufacturing processes

The process is the smaller the unit value, the more advanced the process, and the more advantageous the power control. In fact, this is not difficult to understand. Because the CPU chip is small in size and very complicated inside, the process is a very technical thing. The process can be understood as internal routing. Of course, the smaller the better.

The Snapdragon 675 is based on the 11nm process, while the Snapdragon 712 is a 10nm process. For the process, the Snapdragon 712 has a slight advantage.

In terms of other specs, the Snapdragon 675 and the Snapdragon 712 are almost identical. For example, they are equipped with the 3rd-gen AI with similar speeds. They are widely used in 3D face recognition, picture recognition, intelligent translation and so on in nowadays Smartphones. Since the other specs are the same, it will not be introduced here.

    Second, Antutu points in comparison

Let’s take a look at the comparison of the running points. The main reference is the data of the highest heat-bearing Antutu B3 running scores.

1, Snapdragon 675 Smartphone Antutu points

Take the Meizu Note 9 of the first Snapdragon 675 as an example. The results of the Antutu are as follows:

    Meizu Note 9 Antutu points

From the test of the Antutu V7 points, Meizu Note 9 Antutu runs at 179,971 points, which is close to 180,000.

2, Snapdragon 712 Smartphone Antutu points

At present, there are not many Snapdragon 712 equipped Smartphones. The main models are not yet listed. The first model is Xiaomi Mi 9 SE. It is expected that there will be many Snapdragon 712 Smartphones listed in the middle of the year. Not much to say, the following is the score of Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Antutu.

Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Antutu scores

From the test of Antutu, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE Antutu V7 points are around 179,900.

    Comparison of Summary

From the perspective of the running of Antutu, the Snapdragon 712 powered Smartphone score is only 1000 points less than the Snapdragon 675 equipped Smartphone Antutu score. The difference between is very small in these two Smartphones. Does this mean that the performance of the Snapdragon 675 and the Snapdragon 712 is not much different?

The answer is actually no, look at the running single core, multi-core and GPU running chapters found that Snapdragon 675 benefited from the new gen architecture, A76 large core, CPU running performance advantage is obvious, but the GPU running points are obviously weak. In the current Smartphone processor usage scenario, the shortboard is mainly concentrated on the GPU, because most of the usage requirements (including the game), the CPU performance requirements are harsh, but some medium and heavy games have high requirements on the GPU, and the GPU runs the advantage. The obvious Snapdragon 712 can definitely play a better performance.

In general, although the Snapdragon 675 and the Snapdragon 712 Antutu points are not much different, on the comprehensive performance, the Snapdragon 712 has obvious advantages, the chip cost is also higher, Most of the Snapdragon 712 equipped Smartphones in the market are definitely more expensive than the Snapdragon 675 powered Smartphones. From the perspective of comprehensive performance, Snapdragon 660, Snapdragon 675, Snapdragon 710, Snapdragon 712, can say a penny Goods.
