Qualcomm was developing an SM8450 chip. We know that Snapdragon 888 is SM8350, so, from the code name, SM8450 should be the successor of Snapdragon 888, temporarily named “Snapdragon 895”.
According to the information exposed, Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 is built using TSMC’s 4nm process and integrated with the Snapdragon X65 5G modem.
The CPU is based on the new Cortex-V9 Kryo 780 GPU, and the GPU is integrated with Adreno 730. Compared with the parameters of the Snapdragon 888, the SM8450 theoretically has a considerable performance improvement.
At the same time, the DSP is upgraded from Spectra 580 to Spectra 680, supports four-channel LPDDR5 memory, and supports Qualcomm Aqstic WCD9380/WCD9385 audio codec.
This afternoon, Chen Jin, general manager of Lenovo’s mobile phone business department in China, revealed on Weibo that Lenovo has several mobile phones equipped with SM8450 processors, which will be released approximately in the winter.
Considering that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon flagship processor usually starts large-scale commercial use in early 2022, Lenovo’s winter release may be the world’s first.
In history, Lenovo has also launched the Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship processor, such as Lenovo Z5 Pro GT 855 version, which is the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, and Motorola’s edge s launched this year, the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 flagship processor.
Therefore, Lenovo may launch the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 flagship processor, and its performance will reach a new high. Of course, this will also be the most powerful mobile phone chip in the Android camp.
