Igeekphone reported on June 27th that display industry analyst Ross Young disclosed that The iPhone 18 Pro will not be equipped with under-screen Face ID technology, which contradicts the previous report of The Information. Previously, The Information believed that the iPhone 18 Pro adopted a single punch-hole screen form, with the front camera located in the upper left corner.
Ross Young pointed out that Apple moved some Face ID components to the bottom of the screen, so the dynamic island area of the iPhone 18 Pro series would be reduced, but not to the extent of a single punch-hole screen.
As for the 20th anniversary edition iPhone to be launched in 2027, Ross Young believes that this device will continue the small dynamic island design of the 18 Pro, and its front punch-hole shape is close to that of the Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro.
Ross Young predicts that Apple will move all Face ID components to the bottom of the screen in 2028. At that time, the display will only retain the punch hole of the front camera. As for the expected true full-screen iPhone, he believes that Apple won’t achieve a technological breakthrough until at least 2030, which is a full three years later than previously expected.
Ross Young emphasized that he was fully confident in the authenticity of this revelation. If the Revelations are true, it will still take five years before the release of the true full-screen iPhone.
