Xiaomi announced the MIUI 9 ROM back in July last year along with the Mi 5X smartphone. It brings several improvements, optimizations and new features over its previous MIUI 8 ROM. Some of the highlights of MIUI 9 are Image Search, Smart Assistant, Smart App Launcher, Spilt Screen, and more. As of now, Xiaomi rolled out MIUI 9 update for most of its devices including Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4X/4, and others. You can also manually download MIUI 9 ROM from here.
Those users who already enjoying MIUI 9 might be wondering whether their device is eligible for Xiaomi next major update i.e. MIUI 10. This Chinese smartphone vendor already confirmed that MIUI 10 development is already in process and its main focus will be Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
In case of MIUI 9, Xiaomi announced update support for all its Mi & Redmi devices including the Mi 2 which was launched some 5 years back. But considering the MIUI 10 update, not all Xiaomi devices will receive it. The company has officially announced on MIUI Forum saying that MIUI updates will be suspended for few of Xiaomi devices after the MIUI 9 update.

Post from MIUI Forum admin says, “MIUI ROM has been updated regularly ever since its first version was released. And MIUI Team has been committed to providing the best experience to users of all devices. Therefore, MIUI performance is constantly improved to deliver a better and better system experience to all users. However, to ensure the best performance of MIUI, we have to make a tough decision of suspending the update of 6 devices after a long-time discussion and evaluation about the release time of devices, active users, hardware performance, etc.”
It’s easy to see why Xiaomi is depreciating support for these devices — the latest phone in the list is the Mi Note, which made its debut back in January 2015.
