Ultimea Poseidon M70 Review: Is This 312W 3.1.2 Dolby Atmos Soundbar Worth It?

A TV can deliver an impressive picture while still sounding surprisingly flat. Thin television panels leave little room for proper speakers, which is why dialogue can lack presence, music may feel narrow, and action scenes often miss the low-frequency impact that makes them exciting.

The Ultimea Poseidon M70 soundbar takes a different approach. Instead of trying to make a compact soundbar do everything on its own, it combines a 3.1.2-channel soundbar with a separate 5.25-inch wireless subwoofer. The system also adds Dolby Atmos support, two up-firing drivers, 312W peak power, HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 6.0, and app-based sound customization.

On paper, this makes the Poseidon M70 more than a basic TV speaker upgrade. It is designed to bring some of the spatial character and bass impact associated with a home-theater setup without requiring a room full of separate speakers.

A Soundbar Designed Around Three Dimensions

The most important detail about the Poseidon M70 is its 3.1.2-channel configuration.

The first three channels handle the main front soundstage, while the “.1” represents the dedicated subwoofer channel. The final “.2” comes from two upward-firing drivers designed to add height to compatible Dolby Atmos content.

Ultimea equips the main bar with five custom-tuned drivers: three front-facing drivers and two upward-firing units. The system is rated for up to 312W of peak power, while the manufacturer lists a maximum sound pressure level above 97dB.

That configuration matters because it changes the objective from simply making a TV louder to creating a wider and more immersive soundstage.

The upward-firing speakers are particularly interesting. Rather than firing all audio directly toward the listener, they send part of the sound upward so it can reflect from the ceiling. With suitable room conditions and Atmos content, this can help create the impression that some sounds are coming from above.

It is not the same as installing dedicated ceiling speakers, but it is a practical way to introduce height effects without adding more hardware around the room.

Dolby Atmos Without a Full Surround-Speaker System

Dolby Atmos is one of the main reasons to consider the Poseidon M70 over a conventional 2.0 or 2.1 soundbar.

A compatible Atmos soundtrack can contain positional information that places effects around the listener, including above the listening position. The M70’s 3.1.2 layout is built to reproduce part of that experience from a relatively compact system.

This makes it particularly interesting for movies and streaming shows with dynamic soundtracks.

Imagine an action scene with aircraft moving overhead, rain falling around the characters, or environmental effects extending beyond the television itself. A conventional stereo soundbar can reproduce the soundtrack, but the M70’s additional height channels are intended to make those effects feel more three-dimensional.

However, expectations should remain realistic. Atmos performance depends heavily on room shape, ceiling height, listening position, content, and speaker placement. The upward-firing drivers need a suitable ceiling to reflect sound effectively.

In other words, 3.1.2 does not automatically mean the same immersion as a dedicated 5.1.2 or 7.1.4 home-theater system. What it does offer is a simpler route toward a more spatial presentation.

The 5.25-Inch Wireless Subwoofer Is a Major Advantage

For many buyers, the subwoofer may be just as important as Dolby Atmos.

The Poseidon M70 includes a separate 5.25-inch wireless subwoofer, allowing the low-frequency section to be positioned independently from the main soundbar. Ultimea also uses its BassMX technology to enhance the bass response.

This separation gives the system an advantage over compact all-in-one soundbars.

A small television speaker may reproduce dialogue reasonably well, but it has obvious physical limitations when asked to produce deep bass. Explosions, engine sounds, drum hits, and cinematic effects can end up sounding thin.

A dedicated subwoofer gives those lower frequencies their own enclosure and driver.

It also provides more flexibility when arranging the room. Instead of being permanently attached to the soundbar, the wireless subwoofer can be placed where it works best for the listening environment.

For movie nights, this could make the difference between simply hearing an explosion and actually feeling some of its impact.

BassMX and VoiceMX Target Two Common Soundbar Problems

The Poseidon M70 does not rely only on hardware. Ultimea also includes its proprietary BassMX and VoiceMX technologies.

BassMX is designed to strengthen low-frequency reproduction, complementing the dedicated 5.25-inch subwoofer. This should be useful for action movies, games, electronic music, and other content where bass plays a major role.

VoiceMX takes the opposite approach. Instead of emphasizing impact, it focuses on speech.

Dialogue is one of the most frustrating parts of watching television through small built-in speakers. Background music and sound effects can become louder than conversations, forcing viewers to repeatedly adjust the volume.

The M70’s VoiceMX technology is intended to improve vocal clarity by dynamically emphasizing speech frequencies.

That makes the system potentially useful beyond blockbuster movies. News programs, documentaries, sports broadcasts, and dialogue-heavy dramas can all benefit from clearer voices.

Six Sound Modes Give the M70 More Flexibility

Another practical feature is the selection of listening modes.

The Poseidon M70 offers Movie, Music, Voice, Sport, Game, and Night EQ modes.

This is more useful than it may initially appear.

Movie mode can prioritize a broader cinematic presentation, while Music mode can be more appropriate when the soundbar is being used as a wireless speaker. Voice mode is useful when dialogue is the priority, and Sport mode can emphasize the atmosphere of live broadcasts.

Game mode is aimed at making gaming audio more engaging, while Night mode can be useful when you want to reduce the impact of loud effects without completely losing dialogue.

The result is a soundbar that can adapt to different types of content instead of forcing the user to use one audio profile for everything.

HDMI eARC Should Be the Preferred TV Connection

For a modern television, HDMI eARC is arguably the most important connection on the Poseidon M70.

The manufacturer specifically recommends HDMI eARC over optical and Bluetooth for connecting the soundbar to a TV.

The setup is straightforward: connect the HDMI cable from the TV’s HDMI ARC/eARC port to the corresponding port on the soundbar, then select the appropriate audio-output settings on the television.

This connection is particularly important if you want to take advantage of high-quality audio formats such as Dolby Atmos.

The M70 also supports optical audio, USB, and Bluetooth, giving it enough flexibility for different setups.

One useful detail from Ultimea’s support documentation is that users should connect the HDMI cable to the television’s ARC/eARC port rather than a standard HDMI input. The TV’s digital audio settings may also need to be configured correctly for Atmos passthrough.

Bluetooth 6.0 Makes It More Than a TV Accessory

The Poseidon M70 also supports Bluetooth 6.0, which means it can function as a wireless audio system for more than television content.

A phone, tablet, or computer can become another source for music and other audio.

Ultimea positions the upgraded Bluetooth connection as offering stable, low-latency wireless performance.

For casual music playback, this can be much more convenient than turning on the television simply to access a streaming service.

The listed Bluetooth transmission distance is up to 10 meters under the product specifications, although actual range will depend on walls, interference, and the surrounding environment.

App Control Is a Useful Addition

Physical remote controls are still useful, but smartphone control can make a soundbar easier to manage.

The Poseidon M70 supports the Ultimea app, allowing users to fine-tune the system and adjust its sound settings.

This is particularly convenient when switching between different types of content.

For example, you might prefer a stronger bass profile for an action movie but a clearer vocal presentation for a TV drama. App-based controls make those adjustments easier without repeatedly navigating television menus.

Compact Enough for a Modern TV Setup

Despite the separate subwoofer, the main soundbar remains relatively compact.

Ultimea lists the main bar at 600 × 70 × 90 mm, while the subwoofer measures 300 × 200 × 150 mm. The complete product weighs about 6.2kg.

The 600mm-wide main unit should pair naturally with many modern televisions without visually overwhelming a smaller entertainment cabinet.

Wall mounting is also supported, with the package including wall brackets and mounting hardware according to the listed contents.

That gives buyers two basic installation approaches: place the soundbar beneath the television or mount it on the wall.

What Kind of Room Is the Poseidon M70 Best For?

The M70 makes the most sense for someone who wants a noticeable improvement over built-in TV speakers but does not want a complicated multi-speaker surround system.

It should be particularly appealing in a small or medium-sized living room where the listener sits reasonably close to the television and the ceiling is suitable for upward-firing audio.

    Room acoustics still matter.

A very high, irregular, or heavily absorbent ceiling may reduce the effectiveness of reflected height effects. Likewise, placing the soundbar inside a tightly enclosed cabinet can interfere with its ability to create a broad front soundstage.

For the best results, give the main bar a clear path toward the listening position and avoid blocking the upward-firing drivers.

Who Should Consider the Ultimea Poseidon M70?

The Poseidon M70 is a strong fit for buyers who want several upgrades at once:

    • Better TV audio: A dedicated soundbar provides a wider presentation than most built-in TV speakers.
    • More immersive movies: The 3.1.2 layout and Dolby Atmos support add height-oriented effects.
    • Stronger bass: The separate 5.25-inch wireless subwoofer handles low frequencies.
    • Clearer dialogue: VoiceMX and a dedicated center-oriented channel are useful for speech-heavy content.
    • Flexible connectivity: HDMI eARC, optical, USB, and Bluetooth cover most common setups.
    • Gaming: The combination of wide sound, bass, and a low-latency-oriented Bluetooth connection can make games more engaging.
    • Simple installation: There is no need to run speaker cables around the entire room.

On the other hand, buyers looking for a true enthusiast-grade surround system with rear speakers and multiple independently positioned channels will still need a more elaborate setup.

    Final Verdict

Ultimea Poseidon M70 is interesting because it focuses on the areas that make the biggest difference in everyday TV listening: spatial presentation, bass, dialogue, and convenience.

Its 3.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos configuration gives it a more ambitious soundstage than a basic stereo bar, while the two up-firing drivers provide a route to height effects without installing ceiling speakers. The separate 5.25-inch wireless subwoofer adds the low-frequency foundation that compact TV speakers simply cannot provide.

The combination of BassMX, VoiceMX, six EQ modes, HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 6.0, and app control also makes the system flexible enough for movies, music, sports, gaming, and everyday television.

The key takeaway is that the Poseidon M70 is not trying to replace a full dedicated home theater. Instead, it aims to provide a substantial step up from ordinary TV audio while keeping the installation relatively simple.

For viewers who want Dolby Atmos, stronger bass, clearer dialogue, and a cleaner living-room setup in one package, the Poseidon M70 is a soundbar worth considering.
