The Chinese manufacturer UMIDIGI is known to offer new technologies quickly in their own smartphones at an affordable price. Now there is first information about the UMIDIGI X, a cheap Smartphone with a fingerprint sensor in the display.
Umidigi is doing a lot of good lately but has to work on fine tuning here and there. Whether this will improve for the successor of the Umidigi A5 Pro, of course, is unclear so far. But it is clear that UMIDIGI wants to miss the latest sprout of his budget series an in-display fingerprint sensor.
So far, we only know of the Umidigi X a teaser poster, which is allegedly “leaked” somewhere. What speaks against the placement in the lower price segment is that in-display fingerprint readers so far have worked only with OLED displays and these are usually not installed in budget devices. In addition, it would be very funny if UMIDIGI new features from the upper class installed only in its entry-level class and then later in the devices of the middle class.
Our assessment The bottom line, we know nothing for sure, except that probably soon a new device from Umi is in the house. According to an authentic website, the release of the UMIDIGI X could take place sometime in August. In any case, we would find an interesting development for an in-display fingerprint sensor in a budget device. The mobile phone will certainly find its customers with such a unique feature in the price range.
