During the MWC 2019 in Shanghai, Vivo announced its first model devoted to the new connectivity standard, iQOO 5G. With the debut of the SoC Snapdragon 855+, the Chinese company has joined the wagon of the manufacturers who will adopt the chipset and now comes the confirmation from the same company: it will be the 5G version of the gaming smartphone the new variant of the Qualcomm-branded processor.
The confirmation comes directly from Zeng Yipeng, General Manager of the iQOO series, who said that the Vivo iQOO 5G will adopt the new hardware solution from the US manufacturer. The Snapdragon 855+ SoC is presented as an “enhanced” version of its predecessor, with a clock frequency of 2.96 GHz and 15% improved performance for the Adreno 640 GPU.
The chipset can be accompanied by both the X24 modem and the Snapdragon X50, dedicated to 5G connectivity. It is expected that it will have a dual-card slot to support 4G + 5G dual standby phone. Obviously, the Vivo iQOO 5G will have the second solution onboard.
Recently, in the base of the Chinese regulator 3C, a record of certification of the device with model number V1916A was noticed. Experts believe that this is a vivo iQOO 5G. The document also states that this smartphone has received a Vivo V3030A-CN charger supporting fast charging power of 44W. There is no more data in the certificate, but the very appearance of the entry in 3C indicates that the smartphone will soon appear on the store shelves.
As regards the arrival on the market, the roadmap refers to the month of August. Obviously, we will have to wait until the company announces the release date. Most likely, the first thing Vivo iQOO 5G will be available to customers in the US and South Korea, where 5G-network has already been launched into commercial use.
