Igeekphone reported on July 2nd that Xiaomi officially announced the launch of a “preliminary test version” user recruitment campaign for its Hyper OS 3 based on Android 17.
This recruitment is open to both Xiaomi 17 Ultra (including the Leica version) and Xiaomi 17 models, with 1,000 spots available for each. The registration channel will be launched on July 2nd and will last until July 8th. If the spots are fully filled before the deadline, the recruitment will be terminated early. Users need to register through the questionnaire released by the Xiaomi community and be screened according to the project requirements.
The registration equipment must be in the specified system version: Xiaomi 17 Ultra should be OS 3.0.308.0.WPACNXM, Xiaomi 17 should be OS 3.0.315.0.WPCCNXM. The official Xiaomi team is expected to complete the review and push the update to the approved users by the end of July.
Android 17 was officially released at the Google I/O conference on May 12, 2026, and stable updates were rolled out to Google Pixel devices starting from June 17. This version brings several significant updates, including a brand-new “bubble” multitasking mechanism, a dedicated game mode for foldable devices, and enhancements in privacy protection, such as applications obtaining temporary precise location permissions and sharing only specific contacts. Android 17 also marks Google’s push towards transforming the operating system into a “smart system”, with a deep integration of AI capabilities.
The Xiaomi Hyper OS 3 was officially announced to be upgraded on June 30, 2026. It has been optimized in aspects such as the viewing experience of the 2026 World Cup, AI image processing, and system stability. This “beta trial” version is based on the Puxian OS 3 and integrates the new features of the Android 17 underlying system.
It should be emphasized that this version is an early test version for developers and experienced digital enthusiasts. It has issues related to stability and application compatibility. The official Xiaomi has explicitly advised users to use non-premium devices for the experience, and after upgrading, it is not supported to roll back to the official Android 16 version. During the testing period, users cannot directly upgrade to the official version through system updates. They need to wait until the testing is over before retaining their data and upgrading to the latest version pushed by the system. After exiting, the system will remain at the current Android 17 version and can normally receive subsequent system updates.
It is worth noting that users who participated in the miclaw beta test previously had to exit the beta test first before they could sign up for this trial event.
