Igeekphone eported on September 29 that developers have discovered the Snapdragon 8 Gen6 in the code of the Pengpai OS. Its model is SM8950. It is expected that the Snapdragon 8 Gen6 will be globally launched on the Xiaomi 18 next year.
It is reported that Qualcomm will simultaneously launch two Snapdragon 8 series flagship SoCs next year, namely the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 (model SM8975) and the Snapdragon 8 Gen6 (model SM8950), which will respectively compete with the Apple A20 and A20 Pro of the same period.

Both of these chips will adopt TSMC’s 2nm process technology. It is expected that the Snapdragon 8 Gen6 will be first launched by the Xiaomi 18, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 will be first launched by the Xiaomi 18 Pro. The new products are expected to be unveiled as early as September next year.

It is worth noting that the kit price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen6 series will rise again, which is related to the increase in TSMC’s foundry prices. It is reported that the price of each 2nm wafer from TSMC may exceed 30,000 US dollars, higher than the previously expected 25,000 US dollars. In contrast, the price of 3nm wafers is approximately between $18,500 and $20,000.
As a result, it cannot be ruled out that the price of the Xiaomi 18 series will rise.
