Right in mid-June, we came across the news that Xiaomi was finally introducing the application drawer in the MIUI launcher, in alpha and with the option to try it. Now the brand decides to complete the turn introducing an option that has become extremely natural: open the application drawer by sliding your finger across the screen from the bottom up.
As a novelty that is, and given that Xiaomi has stopped offering test software globally, the new gesture is only available in the Chinese alpha of the launcher. Of course, it is possible to install the launcher without major complications if you have a Xiaomi mobile with MIUI.
As detailed in XDA Developers, the improvement introduced in the alpha v4.10.6.1025-06141703 of the launcher of MIUI allows opening the drawer of applications by sliding from the bottom to the top of the screen. Not only from the “dock” area, but it is also valid for any other area as long as the gesture is ascending. And it is possible to remove the icon from the drawer; thus gaining space for another direct access.
To have the slide on your mobile Xiaomi with MIUI you should do the following:
Press your finger on a free area of the desktop.
Select Settings.
Click on More.
Select the option that appears in Chinese (it’s an alpha, it’s not yet translated).
Click on the second option.
By default, the access button to the application drawer appears and activates the slide, but it is possible to remove the said button in order to clean the dock. The operation is as expected, as you can see in the following video.
To have the new gesture slipped into the drawer opening applications only need to install the APK last alpha of the launcher of MIUI. You need to have a Xiaomi with MIUI, it is imperative. And if you do not want to fight with alphas, keeping all the benefits of the latest launcher, you can always try the Poco interface: it’s universal.
