Right now Xiaomi is holding new product press conference, first they have released its first own Pinecone processor, in order to memorize this special moment. This processor calls Surging S1. In press conference, Lei Jun briefly introduces Xiaomi own CPU development procedure. From October 16, 2014, they start Pinecone electronics, until now they releases final version to bring this Surging S1.
Surge S1 aims at mid-range or high-end chipset in large scale production and pursues the balance between performance and power consumption.
Same as previous rumors, Surging S1 is a 64bit Octa core processor, 4×A53 big core and 4×A53 small core, 2.2GHz highest frequency, built in MaliT860 MP4 GPU, offering 32bit DSP, supporting VoLTE, claiming improving voice quality to 100%.
It’s worthwhile to mention that Surging S1 uses 14bit dual core ISP processor, which enable camera sensor performance to improve 150%, ultra light improvement and dual de-noise optimization make it take photos at night more excellent.
As for Surging S1 built in baseband, Xiaomi claims it can do algorithm upgrading by OTA, supporting against pseudo base station as chip level, high-speed mode, etc. As for current phone fraud, this processor is built in security mechanisms. By combination of hardware and software, it can prevent information leakage and network fraud.
You must be very concerned about the performance of Surging S1, according to official photo, Surging S1 performance is over Snapdragon 625 and Helio P20, which make us surprise. After all Xiaomi Pinecone processor is their first trial in chipset.
