Xiaomi’s next-generation flagship tablet appears to be moving closer to launch. A new Xiaomi tablet bearing the model number M656BA has received China’s 3C certification, with multiple reports suggesting the device is the upcoming Xiaomi Pad 9.
The certification adds to a growing list of leaks pointing toward Xiaomi’s next premium tablet, which is expected to debut alongside the Xiaomi 18 smartphone series later this year.
3C Certification Reveals Charging Details
According to the certification documents, the Xiaomi Pad 9 is manufactured by Xi’an BYD Electronics Co., Ltd. (Jiexian Branch) and will ship with a 45W wired charger as standard.
While the filing does not disclose detailed hardware specifications, it confirms that the device has entered the regulatory approval process ahead of its official release.

Snapdragon 8-Series Platform
Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claims the certified device is the standard Xiaomi Pad 9, which is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8-series processor.
The tablet is reportedly positioned as Xiaomi’s mainstream large-screen flagship, targeting users who prioritize productivity, entertainment, and gaming.
Industry sources expect Xiaomi to unveil the device alongside the upcoming Xiaomi 18 smartphone lineup.
Two Models Planned
Information reportedly uncovered within Xiaomi’s HyperOS codebase suggests the Pad 9 series will continue the company’s dual-model strategy.

The lineup is expected to include:
- Xiaomi Pad 9 (Standard Edition) – development codename “donghai”
- Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro – development codename “shuntian”
This approach mirrors previous generations, offering users both a standard flagship model and a higher-end Pro variant with upgraded performance.
Larger Battery Than Its Predecessor
Battery capacity is also expected to receive a modest upgrade.
According to current leaks, the Xiaomi Pad 9 will feature a 9,720mAh battery, an increase over the 9,200mAh battery found in the Xiaomi Pad 8.
The larger battery should help improve endurance for media consumption, gaming, multitasking, and productivity workloads, while the included 45W fast charging is expected to minimize charging times.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Expected
Leaked specifications indicate different processors for the two models:
- Xiaomi Pad 9: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4
- Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
If accurate, the Pro version would offer flagship-level performance, while the standard model would deliver a balance between high-end capabilities and affordability.
Launch Expected Alongside Xiaomi 18 Series
Although Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the Pad 9 series, the combination of regulatory certification, HyperOS code references, and multiple supply chain leaks suggests development is progressing as planned.
Current reports indicate the Xiaomi Pad 9 and Pad 9 Pro are likely to debut alongside the Xiaomi 18 smartphone series later this year. More details, including display specifications, camera features, pricing, and availability, are expected to emerge as Xiaomi approaches the official launch.
